OCZ Vertex 3 for speed
Intel 510 Elmcrest for reliability

For me the Intel 510 is better than the Crucial m4

I'm also curious as to why the Elmcrest?

Been reading lots of reviews, seems like the Vertex 3 is awesome when not using Marvell ports.

Any SSD tips I should be aware of? Going to do a fresh OS install of 64bit Win7 on it soon as I get it, make it boot drive, boot in and take the HDD data I want from my other drives. That sound right to you?

Basically boot Windows 7, install drivers, then run the experience index which will disable defrag etc. for you.

Oh, and if you have Windows 7 installed on that other drive make sure you unplug it before you install onto the SSD else it'll use that drive's boot partition meaning once you format it or take it out you won't be able to boot anymore

From reading on these forums and elsewhere it seems Intel have a better reliability record. Whether it still applies to these new drives we will have to wait and see. :)

Ah yes, that used to be the case. As far as I can see OCZ have ironed out most, if not all of the issues on these Vertex 3 drives (I've not had any problems). Their initial drives didn't do too well.

Thanks for the link - and info!
So; Disconnect Boot HDD, Plug in SSD, Install fresh Win7, Install OCZ drivers, Run windows experience index, power down, plug hdd back in, drag files off hdd and reformat for data.

Sound right? Needs to be plugged into Sata6gbs on mobo-

Thanks for reassurance! :)

As I said we will have to wait and see how reliable the new drives are, they haven't been out long enough to know yet.
