Diablo clone

Torchlight is a tad simplistic, I also found the environments got seriously repetetive after not a lot of time spent playing.

Sacred 2 is my preference of the two you mentioned, its got multiplayer but Ive never touched it, so couldnt tell you how popular it is.

Torchlight is good, but is severely lacks any sort of depth to the storyline and quests in general. Saying that, the gameplay is excellent and is definitely worth the money as one playthrough is about 12-17 hours, maybe longer.

Titan Quest +expansion is definitely one to get if you're looking for a D3 clone. I love the game and highly recommend it. There's plenty of scope for replayability as there are so many classes to choose from and there are 3 difficulties to play through.

Glad there's a thread about this as I've been looking for a similar game.

I played Diablo very briefly a few years ago and have thought about playing again recently but it just looks really dated to me now.

Think I might give Titan Quest a go. I'm not too sure about the whole Greek mythology theme as I tend to prefer just plain old high fantasy, but we'll see.

Sorry to hyjack the thread but a question for people who have played TQ: Is there a good variety of monsters and are there some decent bosses?

Diablo II is the sort of game where it doesn't matter that its blatantly behind the times. The graphics really don't matter in the slightest to your enjoyment of the game itself.

Problem was that I enjoyed playing D2 and its expansions to death but loved it on-line, the hackers ruined it. :(

Cannot wait for D3.

Indeed, i never played it online all that much but hackers ruined it. Long before the age of decent, cheap internet connections so i couldn't do a ladder character (which then wasn't hacked if i recall) and regular online was pretty pointless.

Still, if it wasn't for the 'hacking', we probably would have the ATMA storage program thing for singleplayer characters which actually made it bearable offline.

You could check out DarkSpore as well, looks excellent. Not tried it myself, so can't really comment, but very tempted to go and buy it.

I couldn't find the Darkspore thread! maybe to many got burnt by spore.
I tried the beta and found it very pretty but i do not think it's worth the asking price.

aaand he's getting the reaction he was expecting from you guys

Yeah, I'm sitting here in a rage. :D

yip diff game to spore totally - the only thing that seems to carry over is the editor for upgrading your characters. I too played Beta but wont buy until its around a tenner.
