320d - remaps?

budget is around +/- 20k annual mileage around 13k last year and done 6k this year so far, I've driven a 330D this morning and actually like it , but what do you think is it worth the extra for a 335/535 , insurance is around the same either way , also wouldn't rule a touring out either even though its totally not needed and i hate cream leather

would something like this be worth a shot http://pistonheads.com/sales/1383893.htm

Buy something that is under 60k miles and purchase the comprehensive BMW warranty is the most important peice of advice. If you buy an E60, make sure it's a post 2007 LCI model.

To be honest, at this sort of budget, probably yes. Do you really want to be spending £15,000 on a 6 year old 5 Series from a backstreet place with photos taken in a carpark?

Nothing wrong with a nice specialist independant but said nice specialist independants usually make a proper effort with really well crafted ads, not a load of badly taken photos on an industrial estate with words like BE ULTRA QUICK!.

ah time for a trip to sandal bmw then cheers :) , oh forgot to mention what would bmw be like with warranty if i got a dms map ?

Marcus; any reason why it has to be an oil burner?

because the 60 mile commute to work each way , and having a woman who lives nearly 140 miles away, im open to petrol alternatives but they arent gunna be quite as nippy for the same fuel costs really are they?

edit: wow 335i is manual thought they were all auto's  also show me a 250+bhp petrol that gets around 400 miles to a tank of fuel

Last year you did 13k miles, that's not a massive amount. What’s nippy? (Huge generalisation) A 250bhp petrol will almost certainly be less economical than a 250bhp diesel, yes. (Huge generalisation again) It will however be cheaper to buy, more reliable (saving you time, money and heart break. Although if you have a BMW warranty you won’t save any money), will handle better (due to being lighter) and will be a far nicer drive.

I would have thought doing only 13k miles a year a petrol, say the 330i, would be a better option than a 335d.

As far as I know it’s only the 335d in the E9* range that came as an auto only.

If that's your reason for buying a car then I'm not offering anymore advice.

its not my sole reason for buying one but it helps , im just looking at 330i's now and to me its making sense to get a 335i in manual. from what I have read 335i does around 30 mpg combined, I could live with that

i mean if i was looking at the petrol version seems to be more toys lower milage 335's vs 330 in petrol plus a lot more manuals, road tax isn't half as bad as i thought either

cheers for the help any ways guys just need to hunt down one I like that's been looked after

So you don't do 13k a year at all? Your commute alone is 26,000 miles a year and two trips to see the girlfriend a month adds another 5k to the annual mileage, so in reality you claim to do a staggering 30k a year?!

This is a pretty meaningless measure though as tank size plays a huge part. My 230bhp petrol 5 Series easily does 400+ to a tank, though part of this is because it has a combined of 30mpg the other part of this is that it takes £95 of fuel to fill!

That feels pretty iffy to me, cant put my finger on why..

You do seem greatly confused about what it is you want from a car, I've never seen somebody go from asking about a diesel saloon to deciding on a 306bhp petrol Coupe in the space of a few hours

yeah the mileage i didn't mean to put each way , i do 60 miles a day 4 days a week. then maybe once a month i go to see the girlfriend as she spends most of time up here, and i haven't decided whether its definitely petrol or diesel I am just going to look around and wait to see what's right for me. just didn't know the 330/5 petrols were that good economy and tax wise
