The Koran - Whos Read It?

Have you got it in English? I thought (though seems I'm wrong) that it wasn't supposed to be translated from the original language, because Allah's message might be lost in translation?

Yes got it in english. Have the oxford clasics translation which is wrote in contempary english and very easy to understand. Also the word Allah has been replaced with God which from a western perspective is more intimate as the word Allah for western people is distant and doesn't come with the same instant recognition as the word God does.

I have read the Quran and parts of the Bible and I am still learning, I think we alway are, I learn something new whenever I read the Quran. Being a muslim myself I believe that the Quran as revealed in Arabic is the word of God, and it is a guide to those who approach it sincerely for guidance and it explains events that unfold in the world and will unfold in the future.

It is amazing how God has preserved the text, He has made it easy to memorize and it has been memorized since it was first revealed and is still to this day by millions of people, and so it's preserved even if every physical copy was gone tomorrow.

I memorised most of it. Very easy to read in arabic.

I've never read it (aside from excerpts etc) but I'd like to get around to it one day. I'm in the mood to re-read the bible and the dhammapada so I may as well add the koran onto my to-do list. :o :D

A translation is good so that we can have a general idea what the verse is saying but it isn't 100% accurate. Some words in Arabic have 2-3 meanings, and some of these words are in the Quran and the multiple meanings all apply. If you consider that the Arabic text in the Quran is from the Creator of the universe, you can just imagine the weight it carries.

Edit: Infact the Quran actually states:

"Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and split asunder (crumbling) by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables that We put forward to mankind that they may reflect." [Quran 59:21]

It could only have been revealed to Muhammed PBUH, only he was able to bear its weight.

I'll add this

Religeon through all its historical factual happenings spans back to a single agreeable source by all religeons - God

Proof god exists = none.

Proof books exists = libraries.

Proof anybody can write in a book = Google.

Make up your own mind.

Note: Point made to create a constructive discussion on religeon and historic events.

Why would you want to turn the thread into a discussion about religion? There are two threads in SC if you're interested. Magick just wanted to know who had read it. You might want to have a read around though if you think all religions agree on a single God as their source. ;)

I have read the Bible, fantastic story book but I hated it as it was at a church school that rammed it down your throat.
I have not read the Koran (isn't it spelt with a Q?) but whilst I am sure it has some meaningful stories that apply to real life, it will no doubt tell me to pray to the fairy in the sky. I may read it one day though, but it will strictly be a fictional read.

lol

Nope - not interested,. thank you all the same.

So which religeon does not define a god or singular entity kreator as its source?

I'd rather have my balls pierced by a needle than read that religious rubbish

The how do you know it's rubbish? Most religions warp the message that's in the book they support, it's nice to bypass all the horrible rhetoric and get it from the source, it can be quite an eye opener.

I'm almost done reading the Koran, i have about 15 "chapters" left, the longest ones.

The one that i liked the most recently was the conversation between Lucifer and God, it was like Whoa!!

Do I really have to do your homework for you? ;) You don't need to be interested, or read about anything. I was simply pointing out that you're posting to lol at how fictional religions all are, while demonstrating that your understanding of those religions is actually very small (to the point of non-existant in the case of pantheism). Just pointing out the irony; generally it's foolish to disparage things you don't even know anything about.

The Americans spell it with a K. In school you should have learned it is spelt with a Q.

Ok I'll put this forward then as an item of discussion

Why is it acceptable to enjoy and read the conversation between lucfier and god which cannot ever be proven but it is banned to discuss or "enjoy" as you put it the equivalent "lucifer and god" in some countries today?

Don't blow that out of proportion it is a mere discussionable point I am making out of interest, not following.
