Pokemon White/Black

I'll breed mine now I've located Ditto in the game.

Although I gotta ask why Durant?!

He's nothing special and fire (of which most moves are special and one of the most common types) will pretty much OHKO it every time with that god awful Sp.Def.

He has appeal as a physical sweeper with 109 speed and attack but one thing B/W is not short of is physical beasts/sweepers and many are better than Durant (e.g. Archeops or Excadrill).

Not to mention his movepool is severly limited - steel physical attacks have very few applications whilst the strongest bug attack he can learn is X-Scissor. He has no 'sweeper stat build' moves like Swords Dance which say Excadrill gets.

If you want that typing which is very nice Bug/Steel then I'd recommend Escavalier over Durant. Base attack 135 and both his defenses are 105 (with 70 HP) making his far more powerful and "durable" haha bad pun... Granted his MAJOR weakness is his 20 speed but this makes him an incredible Trick Room pokemon. Finally to seal the deal he has a much better movepool (including the most powerful Mergahorn of the game) with the likes of Swords Dance, Toxic, Quick Guard etc.

I'll be having an Excadrill so don't worry. :p

I just play with my favourites, I never got into it in a competitive sense, natures are as far as I go.

There is a trick, its called RNG'ing a pokemon. Basically i learnt this over the last few days from smogon website, it involves writing down the start time of when you launch the game, using a tool on your PC to get the 'frame' by inputting IV from a pokemon you just caught, then you can work out how to find a good spread of IVs through this programme, set the time/date on DS to what the app tells you time it (to literally the second) to launch the game, use a synchroniser to get the right nature and voila. It can take a couple of hours tops to get familiar with it, then just a bit of trial and error with the timings etc.

But the pokemon are all caught legitimately in game exactly as normal, you are just influencing the outcome by knowing how the Pseudo random algorithym distributes IV spreads. Thats why now like all the pokemon im catching are almost flawless, or they are at least in the IV i need for my chosen moveset. SO basically i now have genuinely 'competative' pokemon where before my breeding projects took days/weeks/months i can just catch them fresh from the wild and guaantee great IVs.

Any chance of linking me to this as I tried googling this but got sent round circles and also seemed like smogon was down?

Just had a good catching spree, went to the PC to check their natures/IVs and couldn't be more unlucky...

Caught a level60 Excadrill with SandRush to replace my SandForce one only to find its nature was Calm!!!! GRR! I suppose it had a decent 29 Atk IV I can breed on...

To top it off caught Kyurem and its nature was Jolly!! GAHHH made me want to cry (and I mistakenly saved as well) although its not the end of the world as I wasn't planning on using it outside housemate legendary battles:P

Final question with breeding. Do the power items (to ensure transfer a certain IV) work with Ditto? Caught a couple of Dittos with 29/30/31 IVs in various stats and want to know if these are passed on the same way?

What kind of DS do you have? Smogon has been down since yesterday sadly there's a 200 page thread dedicated to rng Pokemon.

If you really want to learn I can find you a link to a YouTube video for it. Or talk you through it there's a knack to it but I reckon if I can teach myself to do it then most people can with a bit of patience.

Not caught kyrum yet just been messing around getting my TMs in order. I'd done the elite4 without obtaining waterfall, flamethrower or thunderbolt.

As far as I'm aware the ditto held items work as normal for breeding.

Yer that'd be greatly appreciated. As it'd save me a lot of time which as a student approaching finals is always in short supply :)

Oh when you get to Undella Town watch out for Cynthia, she raped me first time I battled her!

Cynthia was a tough one, I did it with a group of level 60-63s and a freshly caught kyreum that I taught ice beam.
The stronger Elite four is my next target :S

Yer I had only 5 pokes at the time, non above 60 and a completely absence of any ice moves so Garchomp just wreaked havok and by the time I took it down I only one poke on half HP left! A traded, lucky egg, Samurott got a whopping 12k EXP for taking it down!

Whilst this thread is still alive anyone got a Bulbasaur (or evolved form) or Squirtle (or evolved form) they'd be willing to trade?

Then I have a complete set of the five generations of starters :)

I have a Bold Wartortle lvl 32

Plus i have a Timid Ivysaur Level 21

that you can have..These are not RNG pokemon however they ahve pretty scattered IVs but do have supporting natures.

Hi, they're unlikely to be used in my squad but decided I would actually for once like to complete the pokedex. Not sure I have much you'll want/need - but I've transferred all my old platinum, HG/SS pokemon now so must have something you're keen on. Can't guarantee natures though and as my exams start in two weeks I can't really afford to spend hours trying to get a perfect one :(
