well, today i finally said goodbye to my old Ford Explorer. It's been in the family since new (1998), and is the most reliable car I've ever had - no problems whatsoever with it apart from consumables.
It was however starting to show it's age, and a recent new aquisition left no space in the drive for it. It's gone to a good home where it will be well cared for, but I already miss the sheer size and comfort of it. Can't say I'm missing the 15MPG economy though. :p
Ridiculously sentimental of me I know, but you do get attached to something when you've known it so long. :(

Wont hurt for long, what did you get to replace it?
I got a subaru forester XT 2.5 turbo; very happy with it especially as it only cost £3900, but it doesn't have the "waft" of the explorer, and not having driven a quick manual car in many years my shifting is embarrassingly bad. It is better in every other concievable way though so I won't be sad for long :)

Those Foresters are ok. :)

How many miles had the Explorer done when it went?
Thanks :) And it had done ~140,000
Good job, should have got another auto though.
Well, I kind of wanted to get back into driving manual as I've always found it more enjoyable, and the auto foresters weren't meant to be as good as the manual ones anyway. I'm sure that given some time, and the odd empty road, my old skills will return :p
