Lin-ucks. If you look at some Linus Torvalds interviews i believe they pronounce his name in the same way.

Reminds me of my uni days when some foreign students may do a presentation and say words in some awkward way, possibly out of discomfort, like expertise(stressing on the I) or movement (on the second E).

Debian is a portmanteau of the names 'Debbie' and 'Ian'. Clown was right...
I know it is. But it still doesn't stop me pronouncing it how it appears. If it had two Bs then I would pronounce it Debbi-An. It would need to have a U in place of the A for me to pronounce it Debbie-Un.
