Osama bin Laden is dead - no graphic/violent images.

Its not a persecuted muslims angle.

Its a persecuted populations angle.

They just happen to be muslim.

Persecuted populations will eventually grasp at the ones who offer hope, no matter how bad they may seem, communists in russia, biggest example, they offered the people persecuted by the russian elite of the time an alternative that was taken.

On the muslim front Osama offered to unite muslim people against the west who propped up bad government in the middle east, its like a maniacs rule of thumb, find a cause the common man will follow blindly and wait for the sheep to come to your door.

Did not work on the same scale as communism but drew in enough disenchanted people to cause a lot of damage on a global front.

I disagree with this currently.
The only people in the world blowing up mosques at the moment are jihadii groups and extreme muslim sects, they do it in the name of Islam, and to strike fear into those who wish to be moderate.
They are also the only people in the world burning down Christian churches and preventing people from practicing their own faiths.

When you are completely on your own on a world stage, look around, there's probably something wrong with your own policy, not everyone else.

Pakistan clearly has a lot to answer for. I even remember US/UK troops in the "reflective" newspaper actually doodling inside portacabins showing terrorists waving from over the pakistani border.

The ISI have orchestrated his escape, his security (up to this point) and have been making sure he's been well looked after.

I hope the US and UK pull all aid from Pakistan, i've always said we should be supporting India a lot lot more!

So what if terrorism didn't end the millisecond that fateful full metal jacket round passed through his body? He's progress. He's the face of global terror. He's better off dead.

Maybe some deluded muslim 'brothers' in university who are considering going fully radicalized will look at this news and think twice before commit their lives and the lives of whoever who happened to get tied up in their **** for a pointless crusade that they aren't ever going to win. They're just giving the Muslims and Asians that aren't ***** a very, very bad name.

It took them 10 years to find him. Dunno about you but I'd call that a win. I'm not denying he's better off dead, but its long past the point where it would've had a positive effect.

His second-in-command was said to be the main part behind the whole terrorism etc and Bin Laden was just the figure-head. The second in command will now take over and like others I think things will escalate in another act of terrorism, just because Bin Laden is dead doesnt mean anything, al Qaeda will be hoping the US and UK now let their gaurd down which is something I think will happen. People forget that 1 person isn't a terrorism group, its the group itself, remove 1 person from the equation and it just makes room for someone else :(

Is anybody is going to give a stuff about what the 'second in command' does? Do you ever know his name without googling it?

He can do whatever the **** he wants. If he manages to attack us he'll get him, we'll dump his arse off of a boat and we'll rinse and repeat with his second in command until they figure out that this is a bit of a pointless excise and look at other ways of achieving what they want.

Precisely.

You're doing what a few officials in the US did and saying that the whole of Pakistan is to blame for allowing Bin Laden to hide there. I don't agree with that. The aid supposedly benefits your average joe in Pakistan. I'm pretty sure that average joe in Pakistan had no idea that Bin Laden was living in Pakistan. Therefore I don't think that average joe should suffer for it.

And if it takes another 10 years and a couple of wars to catch the second in command? What about the next guy to take over? How long will it take to catch him?

Its a war of attrition. Yes we may win in the end, but at what cost? Its a little early to be thinking about 'when all this is over'.

i bet pakistan has a lot of corruption and a lot of that aid never goes where its suposed to.

india has always had a better image aswell

It's like it is a surprise that he was hiding out in pakistain to some people.

I thought it was bad enough the image of him hiding out in caves without any real effort to find him, Living in a muti million pound compound by a town/city/military training centre is taking the **** somewhat.

Totally agree Pakistan is a serious security issue for the rest of the world.

So what are we supposed to do? Give up because it's going to be 'Hard' to eradicate this new threat?

These cowards are going to keep on trying to take pop shots at us until they are stomped out and the younger generations thinks '**** that, what's the point if we're just going to get killed'

Just because the rules of the game have changed doesn't mean we should quit the game.

I never said we shouldn't 'play the game'. I said its a bit soon to be celebrating his death like its going to make a difference and Al-Qaeda is going to wither (whither?) and die. The Americans taking to the streets and chanting is just ridiculous.

US Navy SEALs kicked some serious ass!

They went in two choppers screaming in at low-level below radar, perfectly executed operation!

The thing I have been wondering is, how did they turn up in two choppers, and yet fit all of them plus Bin Laden's body into only one chopper? (As the other one crashed didn't it?)

I might have caught the story wrong and if so please feel free to correct me.

I don't think even the americans think that this is the end of terrorism or this passage in history, but like I said, he was the face of global terror. Him being fish food is nothing but a good thing.

It's like saying the tory party wouldn't stop if someone put a bullet in Cameron's face. Of course it wouldn't, but it'd have a profound effect.
