Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Keep hearing about this Jack3D. Might have to give it a go. Due to the nature of my job I get randomly drug tested. Anything in there that could flag up on a drug test and make someone frown?

nope, theres stuff out there that says you will fail a drug test, but that is propaganda made up by jacked's competitors, think about it, you can buy it from like 100 different sites, its on ebay, etc. if it was illegal then you wouldnt be able to get it online like this.

it is on the wada banned list and some other banned lists as well due to the 1,3 dymeth, but theres only a few sports that actually look for 1,3 dymeth in your body, i take it your a police officer?

anyway long story short, so long as your not a top professional athlete, you dont need to worry about it.

It's even legal here in Ireland where almost anything is banned. Jack3d is only banned in Rugby here as far as I know.
It's widely sold in retail shops even here, while tribulis which I think is legal around the world is strictly illigal here and not even in shops.

Holland and Barrets had some for a while, but it was promptly removed.

So Jack3d should be grand for anyone to use unless of course it's banned in the top levels of your sports.

its banned in football as well, so im guessing its banned for a lot of sports.

Anything that gives you the slightest edge seems to get banned in professional sports nearly.

I guess it's what sparked UPS Labs to release Yok3d, it's not on the ban list in Ireland yet.

Might be worth a look really.

do you know anything about caffeine and cortisol? my friend is basically saying jacked is the worst thing you can take. i dont believe it though.

google caffeine and cortisol, he's right in saying it will cause your body to release cortisol as it stresses your body and cortisol is your body response to stress

Sure it might release some, but it's probably nothing compared to a heavy focused training session.

I've not been using Jack3d long, but one thing I have noticed is that I drink a bit more water( probably due to creatine), I feel more focused and I've been able to squeeze out 1-2 more sets. Where before I would have failed already.

I've gotten to the point some days where I have to actively just say STOP during training, because I would have done easily over 20 total sets; sometimes even more.

It helps, not much and I'm sure most of it's simply a placebo.

Also i don't drink much caffeine in general. I get it mostly from my two scoops of Jack3d. That's usually my only source of caffeine unless I feel like the odd energy drink during the day, which in itself only happens monthly at best.

Seems like a bit of a moot point really, a 2 scoop serving of jack3d doesn't have more than 100mg of caffeine in it anyway, so unless you start clawing at your biceps whilst screaming "I'M MELTING!" whenever you have two cups of coffee (50mg per cup) its not going to destroy all of your muscles.

I took part in a program with these guys http://www.trec-nutrition.co.uk/

They offered a 3 month supply to try for free if you did gain x-amount. It was in a local shop the offer, some form to fill in, stuff comes in the post. Nice Polish chick in the shop and her hubby is massive!

I take a fair wack of stuff to be honest but here is a list ok!!

I take a mix of this when resting or training as needed (im not enorsed by these guys ok, just i got really good results and it's cheap)

NitroBolon Energizer
L-Carnitine Complex
ZMA TM
TriBulon
T3
T4
ANABOLIC BCAA SYSTEM
ECA Stack
ISO2 Gainer
Glucosamine
Vit C

I know thats a lot of stuff to take, it could be worse but it really has helped me. I got really quick results when i started to add something to help regrow the ripped muscles and then as i added other stuff i was able to lift bigger and was more pumped. Gains stayed longer. I'm not taking all of it everyday but i take least 1 of it all every day i hit the gym.

Creatine is something i've just started to take.

Looking for some advice on supplements and this seems to be the correct place to ask.

I've recently started to get back into to weight training after a 2 year break due to the birth of my son. I used to go to the gym 3/4 times a week and had been going since 2001. Now during this period I would consider myself a 'casual' gym user where I would do cardio and weight training. I've never taken any supplements during this period and never really saw the need to as I wasn't looking to gain mass like a body builder but wanted a slightly larger and defined body.
Now since I’ve stopped training I’ve obviously lost some of the muscle mass and definition that I did have. I'm only 5ft 8" tall and did weight around 12 stones when I was going to the gym. Strength wise I believe I haven't lost too much but I did use to bench 2x50Kg dumbbells on incline bench (10 reps - is that the term?!). I could push/pull a full stack on a lot of the machines at the gym so was generally pretty strong but not big built.

Now I’m looking to re-train at home, dude to time constraints and looking after my baby boy. I have a Powertec Levarge Gym like this http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk..._workbench_leverage_system_yellow/3437_p.html with included curl attachment so I’m kind of limited in exercises.

Now as I want to regain some mass what products should I take to supplement my workout?
Here are 2 protein shakes that I have taken an interest in.
http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/true_whey
http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/hurricane_evo

What are the differences and what should I be using? Also I kind of want to use it as after my work out rather than a set course (2/3 times a day). But not sure if is the best method.

Also I’ve seen this product (also a shake)
http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/hurricane_xs

How do I consume this if I was to already take a protein shake?

Are there any other recommendations? Sorry for the long post.

How's your diet look? I would also wait until your in the swing of things before adding in supplements to really make maximum use.

anyone? i would like to order some today but would like some advice 1st.

do you even know what supplements are or why you need them?

supplements are mostly powdered versions of nutrients, derived from food.

now think about it, which is better? real food or powdered food? therefore i suggest you sort your diet out, before looking at supplements. theres a huge sticky, as well as this thread full of information, nobody can sum it all up for you in a tiny post, so i suggest you start reading, supplements arent going to magically make you grow more muscle mass, you need to sort your training out to do that.

heres some pointers

real food > supplements (use powdered milk as an example)
training > nutrition (using prisons as an example)

therefore get your training sorted first, then get your diet sorted, then look at supplements.
