I want some BF3 MP footage. BFBC2 is largely dead to me. Tried playing it the other day and just got fragged to death. Don't get me wrong, I have clocked up dozens of hours on the game. Just got BFBC2 Vietnam and it's quite nice to go back to some old style infantry combat, which is severely lacking in the latest First Person Spammers.

It's not dead, but i've been playing it recently for 1-2 rounds per day and then having the same on MoH before going on a completely different genre, it definitley doesn't have the same appeal or excitement it once did for me. I'm very much an MMO, RPG sort of person from my recent playtime and gaming style.

I dont understand this obsession with vehicles with infantry. The whole idea of vehicles, apaches and tanks is to totally and utterly destroy infantry. They are totally unbalanced against infantry, thats the whole point of their invention.

Why make a game where a few players can sit in vehicle and easily lay waste to the rest of the players. So a few can have fun whilst the majority dont.

You can either make a game fun and balanced for everyone or just not.

I'm hoping Battlefield 3 will have some balance, but I'm betting they will be throwing everything in and somehow expecting it to work.

I read how the graphical content aint really moving, i reckon their going to drop the minimum requirment of a dual core and just keep it at a steady quad core.

Okay, but vehicles force infantry to coordinate and respond much more effectively as a team. On the whole there inclusion provides the feeling of an authentic war zone.

Any decent infantry-only shooters you care to mention that can stand up to the mighty BF2 or even BFBC2?

I don't understand your post, you've basically highlighted correctly the fact that modern day machines are supposed to have the advantage over infantry, yet your also mentioning about how it's unbalanced, i'm confused.

I used to love the drum roll when you won ribbon in bf2,i hope they do something just as good, the bad company awards sound was poor, little things like this make difference;)

I thought I was the only won, who got excited at that sound.

...or the fanfare when you levelled up :D

I would love to be able to have the ability to not watch or read anything about this, and to simply play it on release day and be completely (hopefully) blown away, with everything being a complete surprise.

Chances of that happening = zero.

I remember when the BF2 demo was released, I was out at a pub with a load of friends, I think it was a Friday, and I ended up going home early as soon as someone text me to say it was out, haha! It was AWESOME, that first moment loading into Gulf of Oman after months and months of waiting. I hope to have the same feeling when I first play BF3.

You and me the same. I was still blown away well into my second year of playing it. Took me 5 years to get bored of it.

Have you played any bf games? Any decent infantry squad will take out a vehicle if they aren't smart about how they use it. Infantry support vehicles which combat other vehicles and infantry. It's actually quite well balanced. Not so much in real life, bit in the games it works well.

I dont think BF2 or any games are close to an authentic war zone. They are full of gameisms. Like people standing in the open firing. Being perfectly accurate, when moving. Snipers are able to use rifles standing with perfect aim.

With vehicles they are more unbalanced than they would be in real life. You cant get lucky shots, which take out systems. Basically if you hit a chopper with one bullet then they would get the hell out of there unless the mission is really important. They arent bullet proof at all.

You jump into them and you are invulnerable (for the most part). You jump in and out instantly, no set up time almost. Infinite bullets perfect, targetting etc(allies are cleary indicated).

There no where near close to making it a combat sym. I just think they should be clear about what they are doing. Lots of unbalanced things and problems would go away if they really made it a sim.

I dont have anything against vehicles as long as they keep them balanced and forget real world emulation.

Team Fortress 2 is the obvious example of a balanced infantry shooter.

Its probably all moot anyway as vehicles do usually fall quite easily in Bad Company2. Except for in the large map areas and I've heard that the vehicles are more armoured and powerfull.

Also another thing they never take into account how the majority of the game will be played. Clans have to come up with all manner of rules to make it balanced and seemingly fairer. In random matches they give all the means and advantages to the few to be able to troll the many.
