Covers of songs

Would post the vids but can't work out how to do it (could somebody tell me?)

Gives me an excuse to post China Drum's fantastic cover of Wuthering Heights so why not - [ youtube]"the bit in the address bar after v= from YouTube[/ youtube] and remember to remove the spaces. e.g. [ youtube]OBviQXfuu3c[ /youtube]

Sinead O' Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U.

It's surprising how few people seem to know that it's a cover.

On a similar note of definitive covers Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower was so good that Bob Dylan adopted the style for his subsequent performances of it.

Some great covers and plenty of rubbish covers.

Personally like

Dope - spin me around
Marilyn Manson - tainted love
Jimi henderix - all along the watch tower, in fact that's one of my top songs.
Metallica - whisky in the jar

Thanks, thought it was something like that, was putting the whole URL in the tags though.

Also

Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover of Voodoo Chile is the only one that comes close to the original. Superb.

...but seriously, there's a great version of The Beatles song Help! which I have on a blues compilation album. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow. Along the same lines-

Save the best 'til last-

I overplayed the song to myself when I was younger, but this guy just saved it :D

Awesome cover, it's all live beatbox loop recordings

2 best covers imo are -
Wish you were here by radiohead

Because it's one of my favourite songs ever and they obviously loved it and you can tell form that cover. it's like they want to show you how good a song it is:)

and

Band On The Run by the Foo's

Covers are so much better when you can obviously tell that the band performing it love the song:)
