As title really. I am currently running an i5 at 3.8Ghz and it does what I ask it to do, but as I am literally sat at my PC doing 3D work day in day out, I cant help but think that Sandybridge would boost my rendering speeds enough to justify it.
I wouldnt need to change anything else in my system, other then the motherboard and the CPU itself. I was thinking of getting an i7 1156 for the hyperthreading, but for the cost of the chip I may as well grab a Sandybridge setup.
I do use my PC heavily for 3D work most days, and thats before I go into working in game engines at the same time.
So what are your thoughts?
EDIT: Also I am thinking that my current motherboard and CPU setup is at least worth £150...so I could get a good chunk of money back there.
