Case recommendations

lian li pc-z70 will probably come out at around £200 knowing lian li.
I'd get the cooler master 840 corsair 650d or the lian li setter has.

Yea sorry setter didn't realise this case had dual 140mm front spaces not up to speed thought they still ran 120's.
No worrys mate, ive got the A70F, the quality is superb, every part fits together so precisely, rubber mounts on any component, coolng is fantastic with the front 140mm fans, but the bare aluminium interior is a major - point, my major gripe, but im sending mine off to get coated inside, gotta go back to my old eclipse 62, my old favourite, which i know c64, your a fan off as well mate. I ight have to go to a single gpu though, as the cooling in the eclipse could never cope with sli 470's.

Lian-Li cases are sooooo nice.

I wanted one when I was building my PC, but the only one that wasn't a million billion pounds didn't have much in the way of cooling options, so I went with a Fractal Design Define R3. I love it, but I'm tempted to change the case next time I upgrade anyway :D

Yep, theyre a very elegant design of case. I even got shot of the front led fans in my A70F as they spoiled the look of it. The things i love the most are the total lack of standard screws required during assembly, my fan controller is the only component that requires a screwdriver, everything else, mobo mounts included use thumb screws, or screwless clamps. I see paradigm you made the move to the i7 then.

Yeah I did! Not sure its much quicker, but I can actually get watercooling for this setup.

Top panel is currently en-route from the USA!

I found that myself paradigm, though a top panel for the a70f is a bit harder to source, due to the pwr/reset.usb and audio connectors on the top of the case.

Youll definitely find it quicker in apps that use multiple threads, but i look forward to seeing how your case tidying went. Your original setup in the A71F was perfect, like something from a review site.:)

Not considering ythe HAF-X Black inside like you want, air cooling is porbably one of the best out there! And TBH ive not found it to be any louder than the gfx card fan.

if you are thinking corsair 800D... I wouldn't unless you want to watercool... for Air cooling the case isn't that great, and its absoultely massive... for Water cooling though, its ace

I dont get why everyone praises the Haf x its not the best case at air cooling i have one and had 2 gtx 480s inside and a i7 920 etc, i decided to pick up a silverstone rv02 white edition switched everything over and now my temps have dropped 5 to 6c on the gfx cards in the haf x 480s got to around 80 to 81 with all case fans on max, RV02 74 to 75c with case fans maxed, the silverstone is much better in cooling than the haf x due to heat rising naturally and all the fans flowing in 1 direction where as the haf x air flow gets distorted due to the way it intakes air from the side and front and exhausting from the top and back.

Yeah, took me long enough to find a single stockist that had an A71F top panel that was a) in stock and b) willing to ship to the UK. Postage alone is the same cost as the panel

It's pretty much identical, I had to add two SATA cables (as no IDE on the new board for the optical drives), and the SATA isn't quite as neatly into the board, due to them not being edge-on connectors, but it's pretty similar all in all.

I'll whack a picture up tonight.

I had a few Lian-Li cases years ago (PC-60?)
Nice light case, although it had a few niggles if I recall.

The threading for thumbscrews wore out pretty fast and the surface was prone to fingerprints, I think both of those may be due to the aluminium body.

I'm guessing the modern Lian-Li has no such problems?

Very neat, will certainly help with cooling as the i7's are pretty hot runners.

Theres still the issue of fingerprints on the panels, but youll get that on any case tbh. I was reccomended alloy wheel cleaner for the exterior, worked a treat. Brought it up like new.
