Is the bible still relevant today?

Periods are easy to explain, just like we have in science.

Big bang
Instant after big bang
Early universe of massive fast burning and destructive stars
Stable universe
Micro organisms
Small life forms
Intelligent life forms
Darkening of the universe when all hydrogen is exhausted.

Wrong on the last point. The universe will darken not when all hydrogen is exhausted, but when space will begin expanding faster than light can reach us.

And God was not responsible for any of the points in that list.

Where did I say that? I did say that at all, someone said. Why are time periods used. Awnser is it is easy to explain without going into exact detail and is exactly the same when explaining science.

How about your read what is written and not what you think is written and while. You at it stop thinking I'm religious.

But the Bible says that the Earth was made in 6 days, and the bible is 100% factually correct so therefore I believe this.

Hmmm, God didn't write the Bible, people did.

Well there is the answer for everyone to see. It is not hard to prove this as well mind you.

I swear that religion is the biggest scam ever created.

We just about understand quantum physics and the use of it. How rules don't follow human logic.

Yet religious people want to box up God in a corner and give him retarded attributes.

Please explain where in the bible it says to wear a cross and Futher more why do xians wear crosses. If Jesus died in a electric chair would you wear a chair around your neck ?

This religion mumbo jumbo may have been plausible to people 1500 years ago but I think education and science has come along way since then.

.

Wrong space is not Expanding faster than speed. Of light and even if it was the universe would not be dark. The dark universe theory is when there is no hydrogen left to burn.

Where did I say any of those points was to do wit god? Again stop living in a dream land and actually read what is written.

But when there is no hydrogen, the fusion process will begin to grind to a halt, so this will be the point from which the universe darkens. Science fail.

You believe he wasn't. I believe he was. Theology fail.

The creation account is almost certainly allegorical. Another theology fail.

Talk about the cross just made me remember this:

Poor artwork :(

Actually, I was going by the Everything video that was posted in this thread. Did you watch it? No of course not.

It is theorized that long before all the hydrogen runs out, space will be expanding so fast that light from outside our galaxy wont reach us.

I simply confused this a little with not being able to see anything anymore, but I realise thats wrong because our own sun and galaxy would still be visible, just not others.

The creation account is almost certainly allegorical. Another theology fail.

Couldnt care if it is or isnt, but Christian schools teach it as a fact, and a lot of Christians do believe it.

no it doesn't at all, English bibles say 1 day, go look at the "original" texts or at least as far back as we can, it does not say one day at all. It says one period of time, with no reference with how long or short that time period is.

I suppose it's ironic that that's where bhavv started his thread.

It doesn't say that, and it says more about your ignorance than about the Bible that you're even asking that. People wear crosses for the same reason people wear football shirts - to signify their identification with something.

Science has nothing to do with faith.

So you believe that satan rebelled against god

LMAO

I swear its like listening/reading lord of the rings sometimes.

Please tell me what the angels are doing now are they reading this forum, is Satan misleading me so that i go to hell fire.

Can I ask did God know that Satan was going to rebel against him and tempt people away from God, when he created him ?

Yet faith based creationism is being taught as Science in 45 private Christian schools in the UK. Funny that.

What don't you understand that bible does not equal some odd group doing stupid stuff. It really isn't hard to separate religious groups from the bible.

Which do you want to discuss in this thread? The bible? Or a religious group? The two are not the same.

The First Creation Story; Genesis 1:1 to 2:3: Historical Christianity taught that the entire Pentateuch -- the five books from Genesis to Deuteronomy -- was written by Moses. Most fundamentalist and other Evangelical Christians continue to follow this belief. Most liberal and mainline theologians and religious skeptics accept the Documentary Hypothesis: that the Pentateuch was written by a number of authors (or groups of authors). They followed four different traditions, and imported some material from nearby Pagan sources. The Hypothesis asserts that the author of the creation story seen in the first verses of the Bible was an anonymous 6th Century BCE writer or group of writers of the priestly tradition (often referred to as "P").

Creation is described in Genesis 1:1 to 2:3 as occurring in six "days": Day 1: God commanded the presence of light and its separation from darkness.
Day 2: God separated the sky and oceans.
Day 3: God separated land from the oceans; spreading of plants and grass and trees across the land.
Day 4: God caused the sun, moon, and stars to be attached to the underside of the firmament -- a dome that covered the earth.
Day 5: God ordered the sea to "teem with living creatures" and birds to fly in the air.
Day 6: God ordered the land to produce land animals. God created humans, "someone like ourselves" (Living Bible).
Day 7: God rested. Followers of the Documentary Hypothesis believe this to have been a later addition, 4 placed there to give theological justification for the Sabbath (Saturday as a day of rest) for humans.

well that's were the problems lies.

They should be interlinked.

If religion denies the existence of dinosaurs and 1500 years later we find fossils proving otherwise ?

Which religion or a better word would probably be denomination as this is a bible thread. Plenty do not deny fossils or evolution.

Don't talk to me about watching your precious videos when you can't even be arsed to read the Bible before you post a thread about how irrelevant it is.

Most religion doesn't deny the existence of dinosaurs. I'm not defending young earth creationism.

Can you understand the question 'Is the bible still relevant today?'

Teaching what the bible says in Christian schools as factual is definitely a discussion based on that topic.

It doesn't matter what religion, because they all have retarded faults with them.

For example Islam says the world was round.

But then you get 72 virgin or fairy tale verses elsewhere.

Yes, I believe that.

I get it, you don't believe it. Do you want to seriously discuss this or do you just want to deride Christians?

lixxus said:

The angels are worshipping God in heaven, and occasionally popping down here to tend to things. I've no idea what Satan is up to, but it most certainly will involve tempting someone away from God.

I don't know.
