Really..? 4.0sec ? Isn't the book like 4.7sec?
Yes but as nearly anyone will tell you Porsche test there 0-62mph very differently to other manufacturers. Normally along the lines of having a passenger onboard, luggage and they don't slip/dump the clutch at all, basically the Porsche figures are very easy to obtain.
So as soon as you put someone who has no mechanical sympathy and knows how to launch a car hard, they give some pretty rather fantastic times, look at the following image for proof of that:-
Thats what C&D managed, 4.1s to 60mph and 10.2s to 100mph on a stock car.
Many believe also that these cars engines loosen up as the miles are put on and just get quicker and quicker. Plus Porsche state cars running Ceramics and Aerokits are faster again due to weight reduction.
Some of the guys on rennlist have seen as low as 3.9s on the drag strip and doing the 1/4 mile in 12.1s, again on S models, so Porsches figures are certainly conservative.
Like I said even when I gently launch the car 60mph comes up so easy, its certainly quicker than the EVO to 60 because of the ease to launch, wheras the EVO was very hard to launch in comparison, but I'd say the EVO was quicker in the mid-range but the Porsche is way quicker towards top-end.
Its like the new Turbo S, I believe Porsche claim circa 3.5s, whereas already 2.8s has been achieved and thats on new cars, as mileage gets put on and the engines loosen up they just get quicker.
There is a saying about Porsche horses, can't remember it but Housey has said it many times.
