If you don't have an iPhone...

I have a San Francisco and a iPhone4 in the post which I got for £250.
The main reason being an essential app that I need, other reasons are that it links in with my Nike+, it'll replace my ipod, my company supports iPhone, Blackberry but not Android and after using my brother's iPhones when I meet them I prefer the UI.

But back then it wasn't like that, well not to the level it is now anyway! You had the battle of the bulges and people would brand hop every other month and it was mainly between Nokia and Ericsson who would smash out a new handset with a thinner, more discreet aerial or an LCD screen that displayed 10 more characters or whatever!

Those were the times :O

Most people I knew at School and College just kept buying Nokia's, no matter what else was on the market.

Microsoft are hoping many people will still be in that frame of mind come the end of the year :p

Just wish they would release a bloody tablet os, I wanted to try a w7 phone, but without a tablet os, it's pointless. Not going to have two mobile devices with two sets of apps and incompatible drm riddled media.

Incase anyone hasn't seen it (there are several versions though). It does make me cringe, but then so do many adverts :(

Ok, that's not as bad as I was expecting but it's still rather pompous (least it explains why it thinks it's the best).

The only Apple product I have is the iPhone and I have made good use of it. I can't really justify purchasing any other product as they are rather expensive, however the quality and what they look like is rather nice.

The thing is, Apple products seem to be more a "wealth" status, since everyone thinks they are expensive.

Knows used to be the case for a lot of things, nowadays a decent device by any manufacturer will be of a similar price point...

I had a discussion with two 13" macbook owners the other day, (they said something about essentially being a cheapskate because I had a "rubbish" 13" dell laptop), it was only after they mentioned how much they paid that I pointed out mine was more expensive than theirs... Sort of shut them up...;)

Microsoft announced that they intend to add support for ARM chipsets to their operating systems which means that they're going to support mobile devices. Watch this space I guess :)

Can't see it happening anytime soon, been rummors since w7p was released.

IMO w7 is the perfect middleman between apple and android.

Standardised hardware and automatic updates. But allows USB/sd cards ect and allows small amounts of different hardware like cameras. Allows Flash etc and has a stricter app procedure than android. Just seems perfect if they can get it out and get more app support from the bigger players. Not interested in sheer number as most apps are useless created at home apps.

*Sigh*

That actually doesn't prove anything because the Macbooks come with fixed upper tier market components, whereas the Dell is variable. You go on the dell website and build a configuration that uses the same processor as the one in that Macbook, and i guarantee you it will be the same price.

*NEWS FLASH* BETTER LAPTOP IS MORE EXPENSIVE

edit: Sorry i misread what you wrote, but that totally works both ways. There are mac users who think a dell is crummy, there are dell users who think all macs are overpriced.

I have an iphone because it's was about the best smartphone on the market at the time. When my contract is up i'll do my research again.

Simplicity for the busy person is what makes iphones sell, and why they have a higher price tag

Everyone loves to think they're a 'busy' person. Most aren't. Not in the sense that having an iPhone over any other sort of smartphone would enhance their lives by saving them time anyway. On the contrary most people I know with smart phones spend more time wasting away the day on it than using it to save them time.

I liked my iPhone, very much. But my DHD is better.

Fans boys from Apple say the iPhone is awesome.
Fans boys from Andriod say that their OS is better.
Fans boys from BlackBerry say there "phone" is more "phoney".

Queue other people hating on Apple 'cause it's cool and this is a PC forum, and it's GD.

You forgot the Linux crowd, they will burn you now!

"If you don't have a iPhone, You don't have iTunes on your phone!"...

Thank God for that!!.. Can't stand iTunes, I've an iPod Nano 3 and I use Winamp for that on my Laptop...

As for my Phone, I have Winamp 'wirelessly' syncing to my Laptop for Music, and I have Android/Vodafone/Sony Ericsson Market(s) for everything else!!...

I was going to say something stupid until I saw your edit. :p

That is exactly my point, Apple concentrate on the high end of the market, which is why they are precieved as expensive, yet in actual fact a comparable gadget will cost around the same (maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less) from another manfacturer. As you said, time and time again people on both sides of the argument bring up the old "£350 Acer vs £1000 MBP" argument. Doesn't work, they are not comparable in the slightest.

Windows fanboy: Look Apple charge you £1000 for the same components I can get in this £350 Acer laptop... Wow... One is a cheap piece of junk and the other is designed to last from high quality materials.

Apple famboy: My £1000 MBP is so much better than your plastic windows laptop! Yeah, how about this nice high quality Dell/VAIO of a similar price...

Etc.

It wouldn't be GD if the fanboys didn't come out with their flaming torches. :D

I've found the email on the iPhone to be the ideal way to deal with it. What I would like is for my place of work to upgrade Netware and get the mobile add-on so I can get work email onto it. What a lazy company Novell is. No way iPhone support needs to have a new backend put in.

Or even better just scrap Novell.:D
