Is PSN under attack? - PSN now back up 15/05

Makes me think Microsoft might form a crack squad of hackers trying their luck on it. From a business point of view it's the smart thing to do.

It won't bankrupt them, not unless some credit card fraud actually takes place and they are held liable, but even then they've probably got some kind of insurance. And the cost of re-building and re-coding the whole of PSN from the ground up would also pale into comparison to what would be required to bankrupt them.

What will cost them is the loss of goodwill. Players will be hesitant to use the system, and some may stay away from Sony consoles and services in the future. Developers may also be hesitant to develop for the platform.
 
Doesn't seem to have much effect on hardware sales, at least in Japan. PS3 consoles sold last week were up by 25% there. :D
 
Meh, I really don't hope that PSN will be gone... You can hack stuff like Sony, GJ you! :rolleyes:

I'm sure if they ever do catch the guy(s) who hacked Sony then they would be more hated than some of FBIs top wanted.

And every time I hear some report or read a newspaper about this, the numbers just keep getting higher. I think Radio 1 said that it was 125 mill and not 75 which was originally stated. If they are adding for effect or if it's true, I don't know :p

I'm not believing anything until Sony announces it themselves to be honest. Too many sites making up rumours for hits.

Anyone know of any reliable statistics for who uses the PS3 (age groups)?

Like how many people who own a playstation are going to be posting about it online? My brother and his 20 friends with a PS3 are not going to storm out and buy a Xbox as they won't think the Sony brand is less good because of this. Will be interesting to see anyway after this how much sales dropped.

It will be a Sony publshed PSN game no doubt, probably one thats already been offered free to PS+ and then one that isnt but might have been on the PS+ schedule in the near future...

Im sure it will be something that they have already costed for use with PS+ but to make it free to all instead...

No doubt Ill have at least one of them already :p

Sony has been saying that they would be bringing back up some features soon but not said that it would be fully available right away. Got people talking I guess.

That article isn't really saying much.

PSN online gaming could be back in 30 mins, whereas DLC could be back 31st may.
