***Supreme Commander 2 on OcUK***

I miss TA, great game.

At least Commanders could actually take a bit of a beating in that game, and dish it (♥ D-gun)

Upgraded ACUs in SC launch mini nukes from underwater and can teleport :p

Besides, TA's interface still had some micromanagement - you couldn't modify orders easily once issued (without cancelling and starting again), and base templates in Forged Alliance are usually superior to placing buildings individually.

Get it on gog.com, it's even on sale at the moment so is only $4.17 which is approximately £2.50 in your weird money.

@TNA, completely missed your message earlier, went to work and forgot to change my status. I think I need a bit more practice to play against you yet though :o

Edit: I also missed your message Squark, sorry.

No problem mate. I will be uninstalling again anyway. lol. When the game is installed it compels me to play it.

I spend way to much time gaming, trying to cut down now.

Joined the group last night, Will be up for a game in the next few hours, bear in mind i am very poor :).
Just had a look and ive sunk over 100 hours into sup com 2. Most of it being online with mates against cheatings :D

Ohhh yes, Hamachi - I'd forgotten about that. That's how we ended up setting the game up here - even though we were on a real LAN, we had to use a virtual LAN to run it :D

What connection are you on, Link? I'm only 20mbps down and 2 mbps up, so maybe I could try hosting? My PC can handle that many units no worries, it's just the 'net that might struggle. I can give it a go later, see how it works.

Sorry about the delay pookie, just noticed this.

Yeah, mine's a 10mbps down, 1 mbps up, so although it handles it ok mostly, yours may be a better bet.

We'll try it next time. :)

Happy to try it out.

Had a quick game earlier today with Antar and it was fine, but then again it was only two of us (getting stomped off some Hard AI :D).

Ah - just spotted this thread :)

I quite like Supcom 2. It certainly doesn't have the depth and complexity of the first, but I agree that it's a good straightforward game that is easy to get into. I found the online PvP battles to be a bit lacking, but it seems great for comp-stomping :D

I played it through when it first came out, but I just played through the single player game again recently trying to get the best score I can for each level (...a nice way to add some life to a game you've played through before). In case anyone wants to do the same, here are my best scores for each level:

UEF:

1 52424
2 58070
3 61028
4 62152
5 92756
6 102068

Illuminate:

1 53667
2 53208
3 82529
4 58427
5 76937
6 67300

Cybran:

1 68784
2 68362
3 67086
4 83440
5 74202
6 127065 :D

There are "tricks" to getting big scores on one or two levels, but in general, you need to make sure you research everything, and then attack late. You'll need to get a "five star" rating in each category (research, objectives, combat, time) in order to get a score of over 40k. once you have that, it's usually a case of maximising the amount of combat you get into while finishing at a time that still gives you a 5* rating. EDIT: You also seem to get around a 10k bonus for completing the hidden objectives for the mission (assuming you get 5* for each category).

I was planning to have a few skirmishes to get used to the multiplayer again (I like setting several AIs to gang up against me while I turtle the crap out of my base), but once I'm practiced a little it would be good to play some online battles again.

I'm up for a few games online with you guys at spome point if you like. Not played online with this yet, so will play poorly :P My steam id is darkstar57 or aceface57 I forget.

Do what Tefal did. ACURush them and build a factory outside and fortify it. The AI is dumb as hell and doesn't even try to move its Commander even when under attack from Tactical Missile Launchers. It seems to be the only way you can realistically end a game quickly against any Cheating AI.

@Duff-Man, the scoring system is full of crap though. I was playing through them on Easy to get the hidden objectives (and to familiarise myself with the game again) so i basically did every mission using a fully upgraded ACU with Overdrive to blast everything apart. I'd have things like 200-300 kills, 0-5 losses, result, 1 star combat...

It's not all about winning though, it's about having fun - I get very little from rushing. I like a protracted battle against the AI :)

My game ctd'ing in the middle of our game is damn annoying
Very much so. You missed a good finish :(

@ Duffman and aceface57: Join the OcUK steam group. Gonna have to start up the odd ocuk steam group game. It'll be a pub game with a password "ocuk" so join that when you are invited.

27 members when I last checked so the game may fill up quickly.

Please note that those with the DLC will have more games more often than those without. Sound unfair? Start your own game or buy the DLC! :p
