How do feel about sharing your possessions with people?

I can't think of anything I have that people would want to borrow... if it's a DVD or whatever, I'd just make a copy; they're not having the original!

I agree with the op,not anymore will lend even a cd out,i've lost count on how many dvd/cd/games have come back damaged or even lost crushed by their brats:(

I even got asked if i would lend my very expensive pioneer cdj's out and when i said no they were a bit miffed:confused:

Life experience. Some people are reliable, others are disrespectful idiots. I know plenty of people that I would confidently loan anything as I know that they will take care with my possessions or replace anything they break/lose, or that they will happily loan me things in return. On the other hand there those that I wouldn't trust at all.

This really.. A good test is lend someone a little money and see if they offer it back. If you have to ask for it, you know where you stand. You'll find most people are unreliable. There are only a very small amount of people i know that i'd lend something too.

I don't mind people/my wife borrowing my car, I've no idea why I really don't care if they drive it as with pretty much everything else I hate lending out.

Most frustrating is when people want to borrow one of my (ice) hockey sticks as they usually come back broken, and they aren't cheap! It's annoying as always like to have a spare when playing, but whenever I take one along someone usually wants to borrow it.

Whenever I lend money I put really mean interest rates on it. as they keep borrowing, interest goes to nothing.
With stuff, I expect it to be treated with perfect care and I will do the same in return.
Accidents happen and I will understansd when they do -it's all about being reasonable and treating things with respect

Not particularly good if I'm honest. Typically I'll lend things I especially don't need/aren't valuable but if the person in question either takes too long in giving it back, breaks whatever it is through obvious neglect or starts asking for stuff on a regular basis I'll tell them where to go.

I don't mind people borrowing my stuff as my friends tend to look after my stuff :) Most of my friends are good reliable people :)
This.

However, about 4 months ago one of my work colleagues asked if they can borrow my 55-200mm lens. Inside, I didn't really want to, but since I was the newbie I wanted to be friendly and make a good impression so I lent it to the ************. Said he'd return it in 7 days. Ended up waiting almost 50 days and the son of a ***** broke it aswell without mentioning a thing. Autofocus is completely borked and it grinds like a ***** when manual focusing.

The minute he or me leaves the place he's gonna feel my full wraith. Whenever I think about my poor lens I just visualise him with broken teeth, busted lips and black eyes and it helps me calm down.

*Deep breath*

I'll lend people books but I always grit my teeth when they bend the pages. I like to keep my books in as mint a condition as possible, while others like their books to appear well read. When a relatively new book has its spine cracked..... XO

I don't attempt to make my books appear well read and I will take reasonable care with them but equally I'm not especially concerned if they end up a bit well used.

Um, isn't it "never lend what you can't afford to lose"? or am I getting my sayings mixed up? Or wait, is that gambling?

They both amount to much the same idea. Along similar lines "if you lend a friend £20 and never see them again it was a bargain".
