Xbox 360 HD

I have one of the VGA cables with audio out for when i want to hook up to my PC monitor. Works great.

VGA is what they used before DVI came along and HDMI is just DVI with audio and DRM bolted on.

No, there's no HDMi adaptor for older 360 consoles.

OP, unless you paid <£5 for your HDMI cable, take it back too!

Whatever you buy, aim to get the official VGA or component adapter, as I remember the third party VGA adapters weren't brilliant.
 
Yeah im due to take it back today, all the ones i've seen so far are the mad catz ones, will avoid them though.
 
Check your telly spec first though as many NEW TV's won't run full HD (1920x1080) through the VGA input. Component however shouldn't have this issue
 
you'll probably find the max resolution on certain inputs through the pc or tv manual. if its a recent tv within say a year and is full hd it should be 1080p over vga/component and hdmi.

Not as daft as it sounds actually!

I bought an 360S with Kinnect Bundle for £220 and sold my old Elite with 10 old and worthless games for £147 on eBay. The new XBOX is just so much better it's easy with the extra :)

It was bought on saturday but was 1/2 price so probably towards end of life. I can check the manual when i get home, its a LG LED 32" 4900.
 
VGA all the way. You will not notice difference between offical cable and 3rd party. Will probably come from same factoy just less for £ :)

The entire internet would happily disagree with you. While it's not a certainty that a third party cable would be any worse than the official one, there is quite a high risk of it.
