Madeleine McCann's parents

No one "deserves" to have a child abducted.

Unless you also think sluttily dressed women deserve to be raped, of course.

it reads like he's saying they deserve the scorn not the loss of the child, reading his post and the quote.

not quite sure how you managed to get to him saying they deserved the loss of the child.

The whole 'We left her asleep in her bed with the window open THEN WENT OUT LARGING IT UP, LEAVING EXACTLY NO-ONE IN CHARGE OF HER' thing always grated me ..

Hard to say unless he clarifies. I reckon it could be read either way.

That's not her fault though is it?

I never said it was. I just don't see why it's a special case?

1) The media control who gets to the front pages and they think this story can be manipulated to sell papers.

So nobody in the media actually cares.

I do see your point on the other stuff that you mentioned but my original post wasn't really aimed at that and I guess your reply wasn't aimed solely at myself.

I wonder if the whole situation would have been the same if they were two benefit recipients who left their children unattended?

Is it just me that feels that the parents are cashing in on Madeleine McCann kidnapping.

AGAIN!

Sorry but I dont know how they got out of this without social services getting involved.

The entire sage has pee'd me off from the very start!

The McCanns have been trending on Twitter all day today, and they're getting a right scathing. Nearly everyone is slating them bigtime.

One tweet "what's pink and rusty, Madeleine McCann's bike".*

* I may have laughed a little at this.

I am amazed they haven't been prosecuted for child abandonment. Hell that research fellow last month who went to the reasturant and let his 14 year old daughter have a party and another girl died of an overdose has been charged with child abandonment and the police are still considering charging the mother as well.

They deserve a slatting.... Not ill jokes.

Why are they even on twitter.... Surely they'd want to remain out of the limelight!

Hate to say it but the little girl is gone....What good will an inquiry do?

Totally agree.... Others have been sent down or fined for this sort of thing.... Yet the McCanns received worl wide support!

The McCann's aren't inept when it comes to the media, I'm sure they would have known exactly what was going on.

Especially when it is a front page cover - two week expose.

But no, I'm sure they had no idea their sex life was going to be pinned up outside newsagents up and down the country..

2) The McCann's would want as much exposure as possible to increase the chance that someone would recognise her.

It's more pictures of them than her and most people know what madeline looked like.

3) Yes, sadly there are hundreds of similar cases each year that don't get attention like the McCann's have, but isn't one poor kid's plight better than none?

What sort of perverse logic is this?

Maybe if they didn't slavishly drag this up repeatedly others would get a chance?

What all the hardliners in this thread forget with their "There's sommit fishy about them, durp durp." is that any exposure - whether good or bad - could help to find the kid, and isn't it all about Madelaine at the end of the day? Don't lose sight of that fact. It doesn't matter whether her parents are annoying or weird, the girl deserves a chance.

Can't they talk about the girl instead of the paranoia and their sexual problems?

What happened to being reserved and when did promiscuous headlines ever solve a missing persons enquiry?

This gentleman is angry but 100% right. Well done, sir. All you evidenceless haters seem to have forgotten about the frightened little girl at the heart of this.

Agreed,i have seen the media frenzy, and what little the parents have said in public, and i have no idea what the truth is.
Having said that however,i use public transport to get to and from work,my bus happens to go through the grounds of the hospital where Madeline's father works/worked not sure if he is still there.
The trees were heavily covered in yellow ribbons for quite a while after the disappearance, though not so many now,but this week i saw a new poster stating how many years its been, all i think, every single day,on the way to,and from my workplace when the bus pulls in is,that poor girl.

It amuses me that people will merrily lay into groen, magick and all the other mentalists about their conspiracy theories about who's out to get them, which government is up to what, which aliens blew up the Twin Towers, etc, but will then absolutely straightfacedly assert that they know better than the police forces of two nations who have spent considerable time investigating the disappearance of a child.
Indeed...

I suppose you could assume the McCanns are could blooded murderers of the worst kind who did away with their own 4 year old little girl, or that she's conclusively dead. I haven't studied the case but I think the case has been archived as "unsolved" for the time being? (I could be wrong).

In any case, what I do know that as a parent, no matter how stupid or neglegent I had been (and frankly I can't imagine having to live with that kind of guilt) I would do anything, absolutely anything to keep people looking if Ithought there was any, absolutely any, possibility at all my little girl was still alive somewhere. Any kind of publicity keeps Maddies pictures and case alive in the mind of the public and law enforcement and I would happily take stick for being a media whore or pretty much anything else if it meant there was a chance of getting my child back.

Some mention other children are lost every day and yet they don't get this level of media coverage. Doesn't that suggest that not matter how degrading or sickening the things the McCanns have to do to get publicity and money to keep the campaign going, it's working.

I'm not sure how many posters here are parents, but if you just for a second assumed perhaps, however negligent, the McCanns loved their daughter and she has genuinely been taken, would you not do anything until the day you died to try and find her, or if the worst has happened, be able to mourn her with certainty.?

Maybe I'm in a minority, and perhaps it's unfair to expect people that aren't parents to be able to empathise. Having said that conspiricy theories are one thing but some of the things posted are bottom of the barrel stuff.

What are they doing that any other parent who had made such a grave error in looking after their children appropriately, which resulted in their daugher's disappearance, wouldn't?

My mum would hunt the earth, I don't think she'd splash her sex life so flagrantly about however.

Each to their own perhaps, but they are a strange strange couple who talk about the wrong things.

I have to say if it was me trying to keep the publicity going in the search for my little girl I'd run stark ******* naked* up Whitehall if I thought it would get me, the debate and the case on the front page of the papers.

* Me running stark naked anywhere wouldn't get on the front page of the residents association newsletter much less the Sun :)
