What tyres shall I get?

OP: Heard a lot of good things about PE2s :)

Lol Kumhos. It's a performance car, why compromise for the sake of a few quid.

Good call for going for stiff sidewalls though. I'm getting the new Bridgestone S001s fitted tomorrow to replace the RE050As

Sorry for OT but how are you finding the s2k? Still brilliant from the rover turbo days? Rag it all day long and it asks for more? Any thoughts of upgrading at all?

If I could interject. Unless the Integra has been lowered then I think 195/50/15 tyres make the car look noddy, the wheel/tyre combo is to small and the lines get messed up.

I've got 205/50/15 Hankook RS2's, and other then being a dam good tyre (I had RE010's to compare) think Integra's look much better on these.

I guess you don't realise the Hankook RS2's got discontinued the other month, people can't get them anywhere now.

It's like you and noting down train numbers in your spare time, it's something you have an interest in. You've never planned on actually going out and buying a train, have you?

And the prize for most random comment goes to lolTim

Can't say writing down train numbers has ever taken my fancy to be honest

You can still buy RS2 in 205 size, and yes I knew they were discontinued.

My post however was more about Integras not looking correct on 195/50/15's, i'm all for function also mind and the wider 205 contact patch added stability to my car.

Compare to look below, yet most appear to love it! Apologies to whoever s car this is, but it's first I found on stock height with 195/50's

Had PE2's as my last set of tyres, and the set of Federals I fitted blow them out of the water.

Federal 595 RS-R. I think they were about £70 each, so a little more expensive, but the tyre is outstanding in the dry and even in the wet they're great.

Seem to be wearing ok too (2000 miles covered including a trackday)

One of the things I miss about owning an MX5, new set of PE2's for £200!

Has a good stiff side wall with good feel w/o being a track orientated tyre. Should last too.

As salami says, I'd be interested in the RS-R's too.

Undersized tyres send the wrong message for the car. The Integra with white wheels (and 195/50's) takes the eye away from the cars lines.

When you look at the following car you see the whole car, by this your eyes are not drawn to any one part. Image the same car (below) with undersize tyres would not have same look.

There is a very fine line with how a car looks / sits Many Integra owners are happy to save £20 odd a corner before thinking about this.

Err what? I really don't understand what you are going on about. All I'm picking up is you have irrational hatred for smaller tyres.

I'm saying incorrectly proportioned (in this case smaller) wheel/tyre combo messes the overall look & lines of the Integra, as it would any car.

If you don't understand this it's not my fault.

Sorry but I think that goes to you. What is wrong with the guy wanting to know how two tyres compare? I for one would be intrested.

I asked him a question - I was curious why he was interested given he's announced his intention to sell his car and not replace it with another one, giving up car ownership for at least a year.

+ the 'wow I can buy tyres for loads less money, they have to be good, right? Bceause then I can justify the purchase on grounds other than 'because I wanted to spend less'. And because this thought process is entirely a pyschological thing people don't realise they do, they'll fight to the death to deny it :p

Having 4 new good-but-nothing-special (thinking Kumho, Uniroyal etc. here) tyres does tend to feel a bit better than having different brands on the front and back though, especially when the two different tyres have different characteristics.

At present, due to wear and a nail I've got two rear Toyo T1S's a few years old but hardly worn and two new T1R's upfront. Tread is quite different, but they both grip very equally and I've not felt much at all different.
