Considering selling the Insignia VXR. What to replace it with?

There you go GinG has done a proper job for 1500 quid, if you scrap the decking its 500 quid.

This includes:

Turf
Pots
Plants
Hanging Baskets
Raised beds for grow your own (would be great fun for your little 'un to get into)
Extension of Patio
Coloured Slate

Decking is pretty easy and isn't too pricey if you do it yourself.

£80m2+ for decking?

Have you piled up the earth against the wall, above the damp course?

Yeah, happy with the results though, I know I could have done it far cheaper but this would have added a good few more weekends onto the completion time I am after!

Gives the guys a bit of beer money also!

The earth isn't against the wall, there is a gap between that and the garage wall :)

As this has turned into a decking thread, I started doing mine on Tuesday, got this far by last night (doing it after work):

Should be finished by next week, need to dig post holes, attach the frames to the house and then put the decking and balustrades in.

Have you had quotes done for the work you would like to carry out in the garden?

I am currently on doing our garden, we moved in the house in September, new build so starting from scratch.

I am doing a lot of leg work myself but I think it will cost no more than £1.5k to do.

Pics below of work done...£1k of budget was to get pro's in to do the decking (4m x 3m).

I made the patio slightly bigger, the turf to do next once I have made everything level, then plants. If I had attempted to do the decking myself I think we could have done the back garden for way under £1k

Pics below for the amount of work done so far:

There really is no need to sell your car to get a nice garden...same with bathroom...£2k max required for that.

If you really must the best car to go for and really consider is the ST220, nice spec, quick, less things to go wrong (i.e. no turbo). It may no feel quick, however to looking at the speedo tells you a different story. The lack of a turbo is the reason for this, it is the same sensation in a turbo diesel. Get over this and get the Mondeo if you must!

You're paying someone to do the decking??

Do it yourself and save the money, if you enjoy DIY / gardening, believe me, you'll enjoy decking, i did my garden at my ex's about 5 years ago, it's much easier than it looks and there is some great job satisfaction doing it too. I'll come and do it for you for half of what you're budgeting lol!

This thread is now about that one dudes funky looking house and gardening. Please make another thread about how it wasn't a mistake to ignore everyone's advice last time and purchase a really bad car that you could not afford to run but now you cannot afford to run it and want some more advice you may or may not ignore OP.

Only in OcUK motors could a thread about an Insignia end up with folk talking about decking and landscape gardening.:D

I'm thinking about starting to grow potatoes, but I'm unsure about what variety to go for. Can anyone advise?. :p

All depends on what you are planting it in mate...will it be tubs or in ground?

All the decking without terram or geotextile is making me cry, you'll be cutting weeds and grass out the gaps in 3 months, I pulled the turf up then layed a terram over the top, all well and good but I didn't put enough fall on it front to back so it stays wet and gets slippery.

It makes me laugh. We get morons come in here, in this thread even saying "this is the wrong forum unless your buying a BMW LOL" and what o we find.... People suggesting he doesn't buy a BMW and bending over backwards offering gardening and landscaping advice. Whoever said motors can only help you buy a BMW is having a laugh
