Yeah, but you don't *have* to import a saveI'm sure the default setup will include them.
But would they record all that extra dialogue for a character which might not be played by many people. How many lines did Wrex have after Virmire?

EDIT: And Garrus adds a huge amount of character to the game, it would be silly to cut him out of a central role.
I actually did it so everyone survived but Tali as she got on my nerves with the whole trying to make you chose between her and something else thing.

You could also ask why bother having the player work for Cerberus only to do a 180 in the third game and ignore the Collector base decision to boot. Oh, and turn TIM into a bog-standard antagonist.
The best thing about ME2 is Samara's rack. FACT.
Haven't they already said that the "canon" ending has Shep and the squad surviving? Think this re-enforces the point that any deaths will be inconsequential in the long run during ME3. Apparently decisions such as Save the Rachni, etc, will have a knock on effect when dealing with races in 3.

yeah, i know you are going to lose most of the squad but it just seems weak. We've already built 2 squads in the first 2 games. For me it would be much better if they kept the squad you've already made and concentrated on the story.
It was my understanding from the end of the game that Miranda and Jacob do not work for Cerberus after the Last mission, well Miranda at least as she supports your decision to blow up the base.(if you do)
