Hangovers

I'd consider myself very fit and I get savage hangovers.

A normal night out is fine just a bit tired... but those ones where you probably drink 40+ units... eurghhh

Think the most I drank in one night was 60cl of rum. Not sure how much units that is... but felt pretty ****** the next day. This must have been about 6 years ago.

I'm not sure age is a huge factor you get middle aged adults who hit it hard and still get up 8am the next day.

It's far more about HOW much you drink and I'd guess tolerance like metabolism doesn't remain constant. I drink far more now after 4 years at Uni than I did in first year, less frequently but when I do go out I tend to drink an awful lot.

Easy way to work out units.

1. Find alcohol %age.
2. That number is the number of units per litre.
3. Work out how much you drank in volume.

Rum is likely to be 40%.
40 units in a litre.
x0.6 = 24 units.

I had that on Sat night. Even ended up talking to two nice blondes (may have been beer goggles involved), but when I tried to remember their names I kep drawing a blank lol. Had to ask several times and in the end just gave up :p

The hangover yesterday wasn't nice either. :(

I don't get this. Most nights out I get fairly drunk enjoy a dance, nothing too bad.

The nights where I drink myself to oblivion and do that thing where you just chat rubbish I always seem to end up having much better luck with the birds. I don't know if they feel more connected or whatever and I have no idea what I say or do at the time but it works. Maybe it's just a case of opening up and not caring less about rejection, or anything for that matter :D

Noticing the same thing. Few beers on Friday then all day drinking sessions on Saturday and Sunday, but didn't get a bad hangover from either. Went for a run on Saturday morning and ate well all weekend. The lack of hangovers seems to tie in with times when I'm eating well and getting good exercise. Drinking plenty water before and after drinking helps no end.

and if you want the worst hangover of your life, try tequila...

If you want the worst hangover of your life try the following:

Dirty pint consisting of gin, vodka, tequila and other things I can't remember. Continue drinking various drinks for few more hours.

Travel through London while freezing.

Sleep for around 3 hours.

Take a 1 hour train journey home.

Walk 15 minutes from station to home.

Arrive home to find water is off due to housework being carried out. Drink milk.

Try and sleep while people hammer things.

Wish for a painless death.

That was me after my 22nd. The sight of alcohol made me gag for weeks

I'm only 24 and I get weekend long hangovers. That said, the night usually involves multiple large bottles of vodka so its not really surprising. Still, I can't do 3 nights out a week like I used to :(

Avoid drinks with lots of sugar like ciders. They give you a bad hangover. Clear spirits like vodka(high quality vodka not cheap nasty stuff) give you least hangover/headaches because it has less toxins... but then again, depends how much you drank.

Does gin count as a clear drink, being fully transparent? I do like a G&T, but of course Hendrix or something close to that, as opposed to own-brand paintstripper :-)

I know what you mean. Even the day after the day after still don't feel myself. A decent gym session or run usually sorts that out though, I'm sure it's purely psychological.

Not getting hangovers means that your system is slowing down the processing of alcohol, not speeding it up.

Probably done some reasonably permanent damage to yourself by now if you've drunk as much as you've claimed and aren't feeling a bit worse for wear in the morning.

I'd go see your GP.

If I do 2 big nights fri/sat I wont feel 100% until wednesday! Sunday is just regular hangover symptoms followed by being unable to sleep. Monday I'm just in a daze and unable to sleep again. Tuesday I'm knackered from my messed up sleeping pattern.

Never used to get hungover in my teenage years, now in my mid twenties my hangovers are sporadic. I can have a pretty bad one from just a relativily timid session down the pub, then be bright as a dasiy the next day after going for it on a proper night out.
