AS/A Levels

I've supposedly got a Media Studies MS1 retake tomorrow (that I didn't apply for and got a B in last time). Not really sure what to make of it or even how to revise for it... I mean to the best of my recall that exam was basically an exercise in pointing out the flagrantly obvious and applying the correct terminology. Guess this means I'm going to have to dig out my old notes.

I've got the same tomorrow.
Just practice on some media texts you've got, just have a google for magazine frontcovers.
The unseen textual analysis can either be on: magazine cover, print adverts, web pages)

Ah yes that rings some bells, cheers. :)

No problem.

Question 2 will be about representation/audience which could be an Event, Ethnicity, Age, gender etc etc.

Question 3 is focused on the last concept and either representation or audience depending on question 2, you need to support your answer with your own case studies. Normally around 30 marks

What about D1? I've got that and C1 coming up but i think i'll do better in M1 since i can do physics... i'm in Year 11 though, so plenty of time to resit :p

I don't really see the point in doing As modules in year 11, you don't really have enough lesson time to cover it all and what do you do for year 13? Do you just finish at the end of year 12?

Had my Business studies unit one resit today.

It went horrendously as it did in january.

I really should revise.

What year are you in? Because I found unit 1 significantly easier at the end of year 13 :L

yea, I think it was the market size question, that's the only one that baffled me! Also there was a question stating that we had to explain "the if strengths of Kate's business plan will outweigh the weaknesses" - that question kinda confused me, are we supposed to give the strengths and weaknesses of a business plan?

To an extent I believe so, I commented on what she did and how that would have been successful and what may not have been such as an increase in rent which would have increased her fixed costs. Make sure you made it relevant to kate and the case study. Can't emphasise enough how much to use the case study.

yeah, I was pretty much an application whore. lol.

Have you done M1? I honestly cannot do it.

FP2 should be worth a whole damn A level it's so hard!).

You guys clearly haven't tried M5/M6 :p

It went roughly like this for me:
M1 - Wow, it's so easy, I wonder why everyone told me not to take it at all.
M2 - Hm, it's like mechanics module in physics, just slightly harder.
M3 - Sorry, guys, no party for me, have to catch up with M3.
M4 - Wow, they didn't even gave us a chance at the beginning of the second year.
M5 - Crap, I don't understand ****!
M6 - FAIL. Don't take mechanics!!!!

I'll tell you what was funny today, a lot of the students in the room were sitting there 1st a level exam ever.

It was my 14th :o :(

Serious?

M1 is the easiest maths module going all you need is one formula which you can derive the others from and some trig.

Sat mine 7 years ago still kicking myself as 2% of a B in phyiscs. Happy revising all
