what mobo to buy 2morrow?, Z68 vs P67

i've just been reading it and yes i starting to like it, it had dual 8x pci-e slots what is good :D, faster usb ports and i love the bios lay ot :D..

whats it like at overcloking?

i'm in the same boat as what you said "I was a bit doubious about Asrock to be honest (not a household name like MSI, Asus or Gigabyte)"..

I haven't pushed it much yet (set it up over the weekend) but I have the CPU overclocked to 4.2 Ghz (so 42x multiplier) just by changing the multiplier. And its 100% stable :)

For what I saw in the reviews there didn't seem to be much difference in the overclocks achieved against the other boards.

It has all the options in the BIOS though so if you want to tinker with it, there is the option for it.

Thanks for that.

It just seem's "everywhere" is out of stock on this board :(

afaik overclocking ability is a non-issue for these boards, it is much more cpu dependant on sandybridge.

as for the asrock e4 board, i've been wanting to get this too, the ONLY down side i can see is there lack of a clear warranty statement, i've heard it's:

1 year for all asrock products
2 years for eu
2 years for p67/h67 b3
2 years total with 1 year at retailer, 1 year at asrock
2 years with retailer only as asrock doesnt deal with RMA directly

If there are this much ambiguity before purchase, imagine what it'll be like if something actually goes wrong?

The Retailer does deal with both years of warranty. That is something I confirmed with both Asrock and the retailer I bought my board from.

It is a year less than most other makes though, which seems strange. I just hope it is a cost cutting measure and not something else.

They are on offer at OcUK and a few other retailers at the moment. Looking at your sig you've got a MSI board at the moment so you know what to expect.

What with the various Asus problems, Gigabyte would be my other suggestion, they look dam nice as well but they seem a bit more expensive.

I have been an MSI fan for along time so i thought i mite change and see what else they have got out there, I have had an asrock mobo and i had so many problems with it but now being informed that asus run asrock it mite have got a lot more better now...

Well MSI also do 2 years warranty.

The 3 years by Asus are useless as their warranty service is rubbish anyway.

Gigabyte on the other hand...

You can usually do it through the retailer with Asus, at least that is what I did on the third year with some socket 939 boards. Might of changed since then.

I agree though, Gigabyte are excellent they put the others to shame. I got a 2nd hand board with a few bent pins and they repaired it free of charge, I just had to ship it to their UK repair centre.

You tend to pay for it though as the gigabyte boards are a bit pricey. Still if it was money no object then I'd get a UD7.

well i still aint order the mobo, lol.

I'm really confused on what mobo to get..
Yeah the asrock lokks and sounds really good but i'm just a little put off by the name!.

Msi Gd65 looks really good but put off with how they have place the power head rite next to the 2nd gfx slot so the the 2nd card can not seat propley!.

Gigabyte, well i can't find anything wrong with the Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P Intel Z68, i know it dont support some of the stuff what it should come with
z68 board! but hay hoe!, it does have 12 phase power change, from what i have read is really good for overclocking and supports 8pci-e dual really
good again for when i get another 6950/70!..

grr what to do :(

Just pick one and run with it, I personally hate umming and arring about which to get. It isn't a great feeling and at the end of the day they will all perform pretty much the same. If you don't get on with it, just send it back under the DSRs, sure you will lose £8 in return postage but thats it.

The other option is the next model of Gigabyte up, I expect it supports more than the UD3P.

But it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere...

I've been in touch with ocuk and it will be in stock with in the next 2days..

I like your thinking, just mite have to do that.

Glad I have been following this thread, I had pretty much decided on a GD53 because it offers everything I need at a good price BUT I have been running a pair of Asus 6850 CU's in my old mobo, can I expect issues with the front panel headers with these cards?

That is what is putting me off that mobo!.
