Your Top Five Games of this Generation!?

Uncharted 2
Valkyria Chronicles
Demon's Souls
MGSIV
Heavy Rain

Aside from Demon's Souls, it's pretty much the stories that did it for me. Uncharted 2 had imo unsurpassed production values and pacing to back it up, Valkryia was tough as nails but incredibly rewarding when you cracked it and Heavy Rain just felt like an attempt at something new. Demon's Souls is pretty much the pinnacle of hack n slash RPGs.
 
Gears of War 2: Improved on the first one, which was a fantastic game in its own right, and would be listed here if it wasnt surpassed and bettered by its sequel. Fantastic game and still looks amazing now, Horde mode, brilliant. And the story with Dom's wife Maria!? actually made me emotional :(

Mass Effect: Fantastic game, maybe Mass Effect 2 would be listed here, if i had infact played it. But no I've still only had the pleasure of playing the first epic game. The looks, the immersion and dialogue. It took everything that made Knight of the old republic fantastic, took it out of a Star Wars universe, Improved every single aspect of it, and released a brand new adventure, which I happily consider one of the best this generation. Also, The only time I've ever wanted to have sex with a blue alien. What can i say!?

Resident Evil 5: Co-op. I can imagine this game would be frustrating if it was played solo or online with someone who wasnt a friend. But I played it through with my girlfriend, and I have to say it's the best Co-op experience I've had this generation. The new resident evils get a bad rep, as they don't follow zombie story, or they're more action orientated. Who cares when they deliver as well as this does. Played co-op with a friend, this is definitely deserving of a place in my top 5.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Well what can I say, Epicness at its finest, The first 3 were fantastic, and 4 did not fail to deliver in the slightest. You always felt like you were part of something bigger while playing, and the climax to the game!? Actually brought tears to my eyes....is that the second time in this top 5? I'm not a girl I promise. :o But yes, metal Gear solid 4. Is probably my favourite game, out of these 5 choices. So gets a number 1 slot.

Call of Duty 4 I'd give this game a top spot just for the sniper mission alone, It was handled fantastic, But obviously there's more to Call of duty than just the one mission. I felt close to the characters, The nuke taking down the chopper! The opening scene, where you're in the back the car. Very well executed...Pardon the pun :p And then ofcourse the online aspects of COD4, Brilliant fun. And a very good game to sit around drinking and playing with friends.
 
I'm getting old because most of the games in this thread I'm not interested in.

Fifa 10 (Destroyed PES for the first time in a long time but mainly cos PES was ****)
Heavy Rain
GTA4

Heres Mine;

1; Alpha Protocol (360). Very similar to my favorite game of all time Deus Ex. Loved nearly everything about it including the conversation system, damage and of course the moral choices. It's such a shame this didn't sell well enough.

Is it really that good? Deus Ex is also one of my all time faves, poor reviews and what seemed like general dislike of Alpha Protocol put me off purchasing it, i'll wait for a steam deal on the pc version. Cheers.

For me it was theres no denying its a marmite game though. Well worth a punt especially if you like Deus Ex IMO. :)
 
Basically for me any game that I have played through more than once, which are the following.
Darksiders- Amazing game that bought my faith in hack and slash games back with its great storyline and great gameplay.

Gears of War- I remember picking this up about a year after it was released really cheap putting it in my console to waste a few minutes and not being able to stop until I completed it on insane.

GTA: San Andreas - What more can I say. a lot of my teenage after school years spent/wasted playing this game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare- Ghillies in the mist is simply the best game level ever; and to this day getting 1000g on this game is one of my life's greatest achievements ;)

Fallout 3- Played it through once and was left with a sense I missed something. So much more to the game than the main questline. This game really sucked me in making you believe you where the character striving to get better gear and level up.
 
Great thread and hard to nail it down to 5...

Tough as well because I rate some games highly for MP and not SP...

Cod4, one of my most played and adored the maps.

Rockband, redefined music games.

Batman AA. Simply awesome start to finish.

Graw, my first sorte into MP gaming. Seems like years ago now that you could buy a shooter that was about killing with actual guns. No gimicks.

Rainbow 6 Vegas. One of my fav SP games of all time.

Interesting one because I thought it was pretty good as well but like you suggest when I tried it alone I gave up after 3 seconds. I think the survival type game mode is really under rated as well. I'd love to play that more but no one cares about it.
