Britain out of Ireland!

Why didn't the Irish government just tell the royals to **** off instead of spending 30m for her security at a time when they can ill afford it?

For someone who is merely a tourist attraction she seems to have plenty of governments pandering to her. Obama will be visiting her next.. oh wait.. :p

Do the Irish greet all heads of state like this on an official state visit?

That's the first thing I said when I saw it, although there were business owners quoted as hoping it would raise revenue by an increase in 'English' tourism.

I'm not sure it'll work, seeing as they don't seem to want anyone but 'English' and generally the English don't care and would go elsewhere, and the moron crouds don't help the image much do they?

Better off just ignoring the lot of it and not bothering, and that's what I'd have done. :p

Probably not like this, we can thank our lovely sectarian hangover for this exreme level of security.

There is no British Association, thus they are simply not British.

Just separate football regulations from the use of the English language for one moment.

As an adjective it is perfectly correct to call Celtic a British club. You can also call them a Glasgow club*

*No Glasgow association either.

30m vs 7bn

Maybe the Queen wanted some return on her investment.

It isn't part of Britain. When describing Celtic (by your own words) outside of Britain they can be classified as a British team.

It isn't part of the UK, neither is the Celtic Football Team, it is Scottish it holds no registration or affiliation to any recognised British association or institution.

It is simply not a British Club as there are no British clubs, they do not exist, it is Scottish.

Ask a premiership player if he plays in the British league, he will no, he plays in the English League.

Leagues are of no relevance. Cardiff are a Welsh club and they play in an English league.

Your argument is an irrelevence?

Celtic aren't in Wales, and are no where near the English league at present.

They are ruled and governed by the Scottish FA and play in the SFL, in Scotland.

Rarely do the papers here mention anything British, so sorry if I'm somewhat dubious of this definition smudge you are attempting.

Have you looked at the link to Celtic's own website which I provided where they refer to themselves as a British club?

I'd love to see how many Celtic supporters, especially those in the West, hang on to a 'British' indentity.

I could probably fit them all in the boot of my car all in single swoop.

Exactly.

Their registration and affiliation give the accurate and proper reference to how they should be described.

As a Scottish Club.
