pea protein does not have the same biologic value...

MoNkeE, even with the price increase, It will still be cheaper.

Plus I'm not sure if that cheapstake frozen chicken breast (with added dextose) that comes from chickens that spent their whole life in cages using anything but normal food to get them big as soon as possible actually IS better than whey...

Oh yeah totally you know what I'm like with food quality! :p

And regulus is right, for a quick snack it's hard to beat.

One day I may become a protein king! :D For the moment, I'm just a eat a lot king :p

I might Pea protein later in life but Whey is just so damn good really.

I have to admit, having Milk Protein at night which is 80% Casien and 20% Whey really seems to help. I add a scoop of L-Glutamine with it and tiny bit of flavoured whey just to help it mix and taste better.

I notice DOMs far less and don't take up with a stomach that's been eating itself all night long.

Speaking of cheap dextrose fed chicken, I can say I notice a taste difference between farm chicken and tesco value alright. The free range farm chickens also seem to keep full longer. Or maybe that's just my imagination.

They do contain far less water though, when cooking.

My current problem is I'm constantly hungry, I'll eat. then an Hour later I'm hungry again.

I think that could be me going back to veyr heavy training, mixed with college deadline stress. Oh well going to eat now anyway.

2.5kg chocolate is £3 more expensive than 2.5kg unflavoured
yet
5kg chocolate is £13.50 more expensive than 5kg unflavoured
unflavoured is still way cheaper to by in bulk anyway

anyway 5kg of chocolate impact whey is £53.49, which is 4100g of protein. 1.3p per gram

cheapest eggs in asda (excluding smartprice because they are horrificly bad imo) is 30 medium for £3 at around 7.5g protein each. which is 1.33p per gram

i think my math is correct although ive not had my coffee yet :o

i only have 1 shake a day so my 2.5kg bag of whey will last 3 months or so :)

Would people not rather have a stash of boiled eggs in the fridge for a quick snack than make protein shakes? Even when travelling, hoy some boiled eggs in a bag and they'll survive just by being left in the car for a couple of days.

I've still got plenty of whey left from a 2.5kg pack I bought 6 months-ish ago! I do use it, but often forget to mix it up, so buy them from the gym at like £2.10 :( expensive mistake to make!

Yeah I don't understand why the difference is £3/2.5kg and £13.50/5.0kg for unflavoured and flavoured. But with these new prices, it's a tad annoying to be honest. Granted I'm very new to all of this and I've recently finished my first 2.5kg bag of Reflex One Stop protein which I bought for £33.

Reflex One Stop was good but I had the vanilla flavour which is absolutely disgusting! Everytime I had it I was almost sick, I tried to drink orange juice straight after I had a swig of it and it made a bit better but still horrible! It was also very filling and made me feel really bloated afterwards.

I then bought a 2.5kg of Myprotein Unflavoured Impact Whey for £20 a few weeks ago and started that this week. I have to say it's delicious with milk, you cannot taste the powder, it mixes very well and just tastes like milk. I then added Nesquik milkshake powder (banana flavour) and it literally tastes like banana milkshake so I'm happy I've found a cheap and perfect protein shake to have!

I've also blended a banana a few times. So 75g of protein + 300ml of milk + a banana + nesquik milkshake powder = around 90g of protein for a breakfast shake, not bad I think considered the last 2.5kg protein powder I bought cost me £33 and was horrible.

But the prices have risen now:

Impact Whey Protein Unflavoured - 2.5kg - Was £20 now £27
Impact Whey Protein Unflavoured - 5.0kg - Was £35 now £40

Luckily I was reminded of the price increase on this thread and ordered 10kg of Impact Whey Protein Unflavoured for £66 which just arrived by post so I saved around £10 before they increased the prices.

10kg of protein plus the 2.5kg I already have (12.5kg total) should last me a few months, I take between 90g - 120g of protein powder per day so around 140 days/shakes (4.5 months) of protein left if I take on average 90g of powder (75g of actual protein). Which cost me around £88 in total, works out to be £88/140 shakes = 62p per 75g protein shake = 0.83p per gram of protein.

I've read that a good amount of protein to take is 0.8 x weight in lbs so I'd need to take 112g of protein since I'm 140lbs. 0.83p x 112g = 93p in whey protein to meet my requirements. Obviously I'm not going to do that, I take 3 scoops (75g of protein) only along with chicken/tuna/eggs each day.

90 - 120 is what you said, and 30g is hell of a discrepency! I'm sure I only have 25 - 30g of protein from my shakes on a workout day, the rest I make up from food :)

Just bought the new Razor8 Blast Powder pre workout. The amount of caffeine in this is unreal :o. I will post results later to see how I did. :)

They've now halved the recommended serving amount down to half a scoop giving you 170mg per serving as people were finding it too strong.
