Bye Bye Red Team.......Hello Green team again!

My XFX 5970 BE was a major pain, I was constantly plagued by cold boot.

Problem free now since moving to a gtx 580.

I had no problem when I had my xfire 4890, xfire 5850 but only when moved to the 5970.

There was a bios update for the coldboot issue with the XFX 5970.

Update:

Installed the 580 today with the 275.27's forceware drivers.

I must be completely honest here and say that it is truly what i had hoped for.

Bad Company 2 no longer gives me flickering textures (Noticably in Heavy Metal map)! Yay.

Frame rates are steller. Seriously, but the smoothness is amazing.

Another title I use a lot is the DCS flight sim series. On the 5970 it only used 1 gpu (Black Shark), and the gameplay was less than perfect. With the 580 it is constant 50 fps (i locked the max fps in the settings to this, personnel preference), and that is with 2 monitors.

A10 plays equally fine. Smooth.

With the 5970, AA was not rendered/applied on my 2nd monitor, It is with the 580.

I dont know if its me, but the AA seems to be done better with nVidia, hard to describe, but for me it looks far better.

Pleased as punch.

Oh, and its quiet! and running at a nice 37 degrees at idle @45% fan.

Thats great. What card have you got?

Oh just seen your sig. With my Sapphire, it was murder on that map. Even after fresh OS installs with different drivers, still flickered like a bi**h.

Used to get the flicker on that map & i don't really like that map really due to the snipers but a friend wanted to play it last night.

Strange isnt it? What used to really gripe me was the 2D screen coruption I got with my card. The Voltages were set too low in Bios, but I never felt comfortable to flash it. At £530 odd pounds, i expected it to be fit-for-purpose.

The overclocking potential on the cores was great, shame about the VRM temps. They got hot very quickly on my board.

Just taken delivery of my 580 FrozrII. Stupid name but I'm looking forward to getting it up and running, cheers for whoever it was listed the drivers and the afterburner tip.

This is the problem I've had on all the 11 series drivers and what is making me want to go green team..I just don't like the fact Nvidia like to rip off customers by charging them 40% more for a typical 580 Vs 6970..:o

I have the same card x 2 and they are really good. They don't get that hot like "AMD" lovers keep going on about and even under load the noise is not distracting. AMD = anal munching dweebs.

wow, so many people with bad experiences using ATI cards because of drivers.

man thanks for the heads up. I was about to spend 224 on MSI 6950 now I am going with 580
