£80 to fill up!

Why put SU in that, and what on earth are you doing to only get 260 miles out of it!? £60 of normal unleaded gets me around 300-350 miles in my 1.4 ZR

I usually put normal unleaded in it.. but my dad went to fill it up this time.. and he though he'd put super in it :D

I did notice the difference though :)
And the car is only mostly used around town, at rush hour.

I'm averaging 28MPG so it's probably not even 260 miles :(

I think you're driving it wrong!

a) You get funny looks filling a Volvo? Eh?
b) £100? It has the same size tank as mine and I've not been over £90 yet!

funny looks when paying £100 for petrol. Cashiers expect a big 4x4 or something and find an average looking saloon. You know what non car people are like :p

As for the tank size its 75 litres, plus the reserve + filler pipes etc.. Usually get about 77 litres in it.

I don't think I've ever managed to cram more than 69.8 litres into my 70 litre tank and that includes occasions when I've literally coasted into the fuel station on fumes :p

I've no idea what the reserve is.

I've tried to get from Gretna green to London Gatwick, back to yorkshire on a single tank before. I ran out on the way back and reached 0 miles with about 15 miles to go from our intended fuel stop in leicester. Managed 15 miles with it showing 0 miles remaining in that time. I estimate it must have at least a gallon reserve on top of the stated 75 litres.
