£120 is really doable.

But its just going to be a boot drive really.

Or would it be safer to go for 120gig for the sake of £20!?

Link doesn't work BOOOOOO :p

Hi

Link works OK for me

OCZ Agility Series 120GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-1AGT120G) for £119.99

If you buy a SATA 3 SDD 60GB you only be running it at the SATA 2 speeds, I would spend the extra £20 for the extra 60GB.

Ok so.

Open up pc, take out hard drive.

Install SSD

Go into bios and set up ACHI

Reinstall windows ? Is that right???

Once up and running go to WEI - it will turn off defrag and set up trim.

Correct? Thanks guys

You should let Windows create the partition itself to setup the alignment/offset correctly for the SSD when installing OS

Windows should turn on trim for you and turn off the defragmentation software you can easily check this.

In that case go for it! I'm a quiet fiend too (fridge in the next room is now louder)

Its suprising just how much noise my otther HDD (WD 500GB Blue) makes, and its not exactly classed as a noisy drive.

Enjoy your new silence :)

.

Why is that? after reading lot of coments, reviews, etc im going to buy C300, not convinced with new SSD models, a lot of problemas DOA, freezes, etc

My plan is to get C300 64GB, 1 partition ~ 40GB for Windows 7 64bits and ~ 15-20GB for steam or games.

Is something wrong in using more than 1 partition in the SSD ?

Why would you want to partition such a small drive anyway? Steam/Games will live happily on one partition.

I want to order this, but just have this niggly thought that is a cheapo SSD and speeds are not going to be great at all? Unless i am wrong?

I am thinking of spending £80-£90 on a newer SSD 60ish Gig

The only why this drive is cheaper because it now EOL and OCuk had some great deals from OCZ and at £120 for 120GB it is a great deal.

As your MB only support sata 2, buying a faster sata 3 you will not seen any real difference compared to the old units on your MB.

If you planning to buy a new MB that support sata 3 in the next 6-12 months then go with the sata 3 drive.

I brought the OCZ Vertex Series 120GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive when it was offer at £120.

I would say go with the largest drive you can, have a look at your current window drive and see how much space you are using.

If you go with the 60GB then you will need good housekeeping to keep the drive from feeling up.

Beware some new units are less than 60GB once formated
