Just ordered 4 new tyres

Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, wheel sizes on some cars are just getting way out of control.

I view 18s as being big enough personally, but here we have a pretty bog standard car
(320bhp only) on 20s!
Even exotics such as the 360 only came with 18s or 19s.
What the hell does performance have to do with wheel size?
A Ferrari 360 on 20s would just look ridiculous, and I can't help but think that it wouldn't do the handling much good, either.

Our GT has 20" and I think it looks great.
Bit pricey though at £1000 for a full set of Goodyear RFTs

I used Potenza RE010, Potenza RE720, Dunlop SP9000, Eagle F1 and KU31 on my old Civic. The RE010 was the best tyre, but they didn't last half as long as the KU31, and just weren't worth the extra. IIRC KU31 were ~£30 and RE010 were ~£70 (195/55/15).

SP9000 were dangerously bad, Eagle F1's suffered from a cheese sidewall, RE720 were good, but as with the RE010's, not worth the price difference over KU31's.

I'd happily purchase KU31's again, but i'd be lying if I said the main reason wasn't cost.

So what's the difference between a bit pricey and a downright rip off?

I'm getting nostalgic for the days when a new tyre for my Nova was £27. For a Goodyear.

Because the only reason to run larger rims is for bigger brakes, and wider wheels allowing for softer rubber

Thats not the ONLY reason at all, if it was the ONLY reason you wouldn't see 19 inch wheels on Insignia diesels. The main reason to run larger wheels these days is for cosmetic reasons - whether you agree or not (I personally dont like enormous wheels and will be repacing the 19's on my next car with 18's) doesn't mean it isnt a reason.

It's over 1800kg, so the power:weight is not that great really

It's still quicker than your thing.

I'm talking outside of "it looks bling, innit bruv" side of things and talking about purely practical reasons.

Not through the twisties it won't be,
