****Official L.A Noire thread****

I've not had any problems with the game on ps3 :o

After seeing quite a few people having them I was kind of worried, well I did have a mute conversation at one point though in an interrogation :p

It doesn't feel "dull" it's stunning to walk about in and watch the virtual world go by.

I think the city doesn't have as much to do as say, Liberty City in GTA IV but... they're really different games aren't they? GTA is an open sandbox world but with a storyline chucked in.

This is a murder mystery game with a story line based in a city?

I don't understand why people are complaining about this, or comparing them.

Indeed as mentioned above :p the lack of open world and murdering of prostitutes really let down their table tennis game.

I didn't once compare it to GTA or wish it was more like GTA. I just wish they added more to do in the open world. Like, go to a libary or cinema. Stuff like that. Don't want to go on a killing rampage as that gets boring fast.

What? You want to sit at a screen watching your character sit at a screen?

Yeah... That point is lost upon me.

You're a cop? You can only get your weapon out a certain points in the story line so you can't go on a killing rampage either?

Have you played the game?

I think the chases are crap. Both on foot and in a car, they're all the same. I agree with someone above who said the city feels dull as well. Don't get me wrong, I am kind of enjoying it, and I like that it's different, but I can't help feel it could have been a lot better.

Picked this up along with Crysis2 yesterday as i had a ton of games to trade in....havent really had a chance to play it...was told by the guy at the shop to install the first disc but didnt ask him if i should also install the 2nd and 3rd discs to my hd as well...he said something about it being smoother ie the game play...can anyone confirm??

Tbh im at the moment playing crysis 2 and enjoying that immensely so will probably hit this after ive finished with crysis2...probably be a week or 2 or i might just start playing this later tonite to see what its really like.

This game suffers massively from post-hype syndrome. The first time you play it, it seems awesome in pretty much every way. Then you get a few hours into it and realise it has loads of annoying flaws :(

That is exactly what is happened to me. Sorry but the game was stupidly overhyped. Even RDR was better than this, despite its zero replayability.

Right now I'm just hoping the game will end, I thought I was on the last case but another has popped up now so I've just switched off. What kills the game for me is the general lifelessness of the city - there is just literally nothing. I just took part in a big shootout, and a cut scene played out. Right after the cut scene I was back to my standard pistol and had lost my tommy gun - wtf is that all about? Chases and shootouts exhibit laughable enemy AI, which reminds me of the Fable series.

Mafia 2 at least had a half-decent city to roam around in, with places of interest to visit. Noire hasn't even got garages where I can store hidden vehicles. Yes I know its a cop game, but still.

I disagree, its easily as good as I was expecting it to be and doesn't really fall short at anything that its trying to do.

Its not GTA or RDR and its not meant to be, get over it.

Just finished the Golden Butterfly case, got 2 stars for putting away the right person and 4 stars for putting away the wrong person - figure that one out :/

Missed one clue short of getting 5 stars as well :(

Indeed, GTA/RDR never even came into my head as comparisons, before or after the release. I was expecting it to be a new genre or a more mainstream "crime solver" like the CSI games and point and click type affairs, and it is. I can't be arsed faffing about around a city in a game like this, I want to be immersed in an interactive movie, which is the feeling I get when playing this

These are my thoughts exactly.

we should be encouraging companies to do something different, and push the current tech to it's limits, yeah there might be some issues but at least they made an effort. The depressing thing is call of duty will be this years biggest selling game again, one of the laziest, least experimental series ever. But just look at the music and film charts, they are filled with unoriginal crap to please the brainless masses so why should the game industry be any different.

+1

Ended up buying it anyways, played for a few hours and didn't enjoy it, managed tom shift it on eBay for £38, think I am best out of it, back to some RDR and GTA for my open world kicks, but that's just me! Hope that everyone playing it enjoys it, sadly just not for me!
