No Valve games at E3

Indeed, potentially it could even be a whole new engine for HL3, maybe that's why it's taking so long and so shrouded in secrecy...

They've already said they're not making a new engine. They have allocated more people to improve the source engine lately (as they've been improving it ever since they've released it) but they won't be building a new engine.

Also

'The money making way would have just been to pump out HL3, HL4 and HL5 within 12 months of each other.'

No way you're thinking that fini. No way anyone thinks that.

But you said by not releasing HL3/EP3 they are milking it? How does that make sense? As fini said, releasing them quicker with very little new content in them would be a cash cow. See Activision's CoD series, and EA's sports series.

Game devs are free to develop new games and ideas. The notion that they should only develop 1 game series, and release them regularly is ludicrous.

so if its not a new engine why the hell are we waiting years for episode 3,that should have been out within 12 months of episode 2:confused: valve have let their user base fans down in my opinion.:(

They ARE milking it. However I never said for the purpose of HL franchise.

It's called teasers, trailers and media. We're not asking them to give us entire unfinished game. Besides they had enough time to develop a episode.

So you want them to waste time making teaser trailers to hype the game so you can complain about them hyping the game.

Really just an official announcement would be nice but seen as they're taking "no comment" approach when asked about half life 3 i'd guess (hope) that they are. Otherwise the nice thing for them to do is to announce that they have no plans on making half life games for now. I doubt valve would be so rude as to allow our expectations to build up because of incomplete information only to crush them at one point.

I'm confident there will be a sequel at some point, its just when.

Interestingly, I don't anywhere see in the description for Episode 1 or 2 that its going to be a trilogy, which makes me think it might not have been marketed as such. Most people who bought the game won't have read or listened to the interviews where they mentioned it is going to be part of a trilogy.

Really love valve as a company and I love love love CSS and 1.6 but 6 nearly 7 years is a long time to wait between games. It is time ! ! ! ! :) Seriously would make my year.

On the back of The Orange Box, box is says "Episode One, the first in the trilogy of new episodes for Half-Life 2..."

Jcb33.

Can you read at all ?

Do you even realise how much time has passed between EP2 and 3 ? Of course it's too late for **** like media now. All they will do now is another release date and simple release.

I've never said I complain about them hyping up ? Maybe because they haven't done it at all with EP3 ?
