id parade

Aren't the police likely to have someone ready to charge within the lineup though? So if the victim IDs a random vagrant instead of the perp, you know they're not a reliable witness, that's all. They won't just go 'oh hey it must be that guy, get him boys'.

I think your sarcasm detector needs a firmware upgrade.

I used to do it quite often when I was in college. The Police would come in and ask for people and you'd end up getting about £20 for an hour or so work.

Sometimes we had to glue cotton wool onto our face if the victim thought the suspect had facial hair! :D

Used to have a mates dad who was a copper back when I was younger and they were a nice little earner, turn up stand around for a bit and leave with £30 in my pocket.

I did it 6 months ago and got paid and a brew from some fit looking female copper! I was told they already had a suspect but needed to do a line up. Had to sig some bit of paper saying we understod we were there as a precuation of the witness making faulse statment

Just been asked by the coppers, to partake in an ID parade.

Anyone else done one, what actually happens in them?

I was accosted on the street many years ago by 2 CID officers to do one, I wasn't picked to be in the line up but had to stay in the cop shop until it was over, we got to play pool, watch TV etc in the police canteen and got paid at the end of the night.

Any payment for taking part?

It appears that:

It usually takes less than a few hours and you are normally paid £10 or £15 for the first hour and £5 thereafter. Rates of pay vary from police force to police force.

There can be some waiting around whilst police officers brief the witnesses. The advantages to you are that you are paid for this time and may have access to the police station canteen where you may get something free to eat and drink.

Some police forces may pay expenses such as loss of earnings or travelling expenses.

If make up has to be applied to an identity parade volunteer then an extra payment is given.

From the find extra work site :D

You had lots of ID parades involving paedo Santa?

VIPER seems to be the way forces have gone.

I can't remember the name of the system Hants use. It's on the tip of my tongue but won't come out, although I'm sure it's very similar :(

But yes, short videos of someone looking into a camera, turn left, turn right and look at the camera again.

Yea its all video now, im viper trained, its a good system, so line ups are not needed so much any more. Not sure if its cost effective as a general line up as the viper suits cost a fair bit and i dont think there is much cost cutting at the head office where they make and provide the dvds.
