Black vans for under £3k

On here I don't always want to tell you everything and sometimes I want to have fun with my posts. Forums != Real life.

This is the most telling post in here. Mike will never explain fully anything because he thrives on the attention acting like this get him. He loves being the centre of the universe in Motors.

Just think, he knows that posting such a vague thread would get people asking questions, and he knows exactly what those questions will be in OcUK Motors... yet he still chose to post the thread here...

In summary, Mikes motives in this thread have nothing to do with finding a black van for £3k.

Starting a thread with half the story and being made to look like a bit of a chump to get attention?

My daughter also has issues with negative attention. She's 9 BTW.

Hardly. I never wanted to discuss any of this, hence why I chose not to reveal anything more despite being asked several times.

I wanted to know if anyone knew of a particular van where there were some black models made, that is all - it's perfectly clear in the OP.

If that were true Mike, you would have known posting it on OcUK Motors was a bad idea, and gone elsewhere for your van advice.

But you didn't, you came here. Says it all.

I see, so what you're now suggesting is that I shouldn't post on OcUK anymore because a few people on here (like yourself) are going to troll my thread?

Like "Hi, why do you even post here, we're just going to ruin everything you do post so **** off".

No Mike, not at all.

Because you know perfectly well that "Spec me a van for my new detailing business to carry X, Y, and Z. It should be reliable but also give off a good image. I would like it to be black to use it as a bed to show off my work, but these are proving hard to find. My budget is £3k" is a perfectly acceptable thread. "Spec me a black van, I wont tell you why and wont accept anything other than black" was always (and was probably designed) to get peoples backs up.

Well this is what you don't seem to be able to comprehend. I did not require advice on what van will fit my needs, this is something I'm perfectly capable of determining myself.

I just wanted to know if there were any vans that I had missed, that were commonly sold in black within my budget - they exist, for example there seem to be more Merc Sprinters and VW Caddys in black, albeit out of my budget.

This is your problem. You ask for advice then dismiss it as you already think you know best, then wonder why your threads always turn out the way they do...

Determining load capacity and weight (some sums) is lot more complicated than using google and autotrader to search for a black van.

For someone with such business sense your lack of ability to find a black van is quite hilarious.

No, I never dismiss advice I ask for. I dismiss advice that I haven't asked for and do not want.

The trouble is, everyone here wants to make out like they know better than everyone else. You slate me for proclaiming to know the bits where I haven't asked for advice, but why are you any more qualified to offer this advice than I am at determining it myself?

I'll say it again - if I wasn't sure what kind of van I needed, what vans were reliable and what is suitable for the loads I wish to carry then I would have posted a spec me thread, but seeing as I do not require this information I posted a thread for the information I did need - are there any vans that are commonly available in black.

Simples.

I know how much space I need, and I know how much weight I will be carrying.

I never said whatever black van I find will be the one for me, but seeing as black vans are rarer than vans that will accommodate my needs, it isn't exactly outrageous starting point - I can discount any that do not suit my needs from the list of available black vans, can't I.

You dismiss advice when you think you know better.

Something typing 'black' into the search field of Autotrader failed to provide?

I successfully removed 2000 with Gtechniq P1 and a 5" Menz compounding pad.
Why didn't you just use a blue sponge on a polisher and Farecla G3 or G6 like everyone in the bodywork trade does? It'll polish out 1500 if you need it to.

Clear coat is of a finite thickness, sometimes it is incredibly thin - I always opt for removing the minimal amount which means using the least aggressive pad/polish combination to achieve the results I desire.

Also, the harsher the pad/polish the more work is required to further refine it. My chosen combination to remove sanding haze can easily be further refined to perfection with just one more stage (P1 on a Menz finishing pad).

A blue sponge is pretty ambiguous though, and I do not like the Farécla products.

I can, and it is something I have already explored, but it would be preferable to find a van that is already black.

Ah right, I would have thought it would be easier to find a van that is in good condition for say £2500 than a good condition black van for £3000. That way you have £500 to cover the cost of changing it to black.

It's going to be a little more than £500, but yes, that is essentially the route I will take if I cannot find a suitable black van.
