Can OCUK do some good deals on 2TB drives?

Yes there are 3 on this week only, sadly all three are still cheaper elsewhere. I'd like to see another really good 2TB deal. There was one on the Hitachi 5k3000 back in March for £53 which was good. Can OCUK deliver the first etailer to break the £50 barrier with a 2TB drive? :)

Well yeah....but...this is to see if OCUK could do some good deals. :) I think a lot of people run servers or have needs for 2TB drives now as they are best bang for buck. I was wondering if OCUK would be looking to do a deal on the Hitachi 5k3000 drives again since Western Digital has bought out Hitachi now and these drives will cease to exist and should drop in price.

Bit dissappointing the lack of replies. Gibbo and co were quite vocal with feedback in other threads about ram recently. Oh well.

Wait, so you happen to be interested in a 2TB drive and is blaming Gibbo (& co) for not giving you a personal deal? :D

*edit: Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB for £58.99 is not a bad deal, go for it.

Gibbo doesn't manage HDDs, Andrew Moore does.

Also I would liek to rtemind you all.

NO COMPETITOR TALK

Or bans and infractions will be handed out.

Im thinking of getting a new 2TB hard drive for my main pc. Looked at the Seagate Green a few times. Its the same hard drive used inside my western digital external hard drive. Is there a noticable performance difference between external and internal 2tb drives ?

That depends how the external drive is connected to your PC.

If you connect using USB 2.0 it will be much slower than an internal drive.

If you connect using USB 3.0 or eSATA it should be the same speed as an internal drive.

I wasn't blaming anyone or moaning, just commenting on whether some deals can be done. :) No biggie, will just buy elsewhere I guess. Prefer to buy at OCUK where possible.

I too would like to see some really good deals on 2TB drives, I really want 10tb of storage so a decent price drop would be nice :)

2TB drives are £60 give or take a couple of quid.
How low do you think they can go?

Not so long ago 1tb would have been unimaginable, I still remember upgrading from a 10gb to a 20gb hdd and thinking it was great. I'd like to see them sub £50 I realise that may be a while.

I don't think drives are going to drop massively in price in the near future, basically the largest mainstream drive you can buy at any given point in time will usually be at least £100, currently that is 3TB.
