Doctor Who

A time lord can only regenerate a total of 13 times, but another time lord can "gift" more if they wanted to, but I think it would take away there own amount

So maybe, if all the other Timelords are gone (locked up in some time bubble or propper dead) then maybe... The Doctor has 'inherited' all the remaining regenerations from his entire race!!...

or am I just babbling here!!?? :(

I don't think that would work, but you never know with the BBC lol

But maybe the Doctor does truely die, he said he's been running all his life and its time to stop, or he goes all Time Lord Victorious and alters the future

I would have thought that since all the other Time Lords are gone there's nobody to 'enforce' this rule, but then it's a question on if it's a legal or a biological limit. And that's just a sad thing to debate :p

i think it a bit of both, that after the 12th regen they have used up all the regen energy that they have been given and must die, they can recharge the regen energy but to do so is illegal by the time lords law, but since the timelords are gone (for now) there nothing stopping the Dr recharging.

(this may sound farfetched) but the Doctor always regenerates inside the Tardis now the question is why?, well maybe he's storing up the energy?, kinda like using the Tardis to recycle it for him?

From the early shows it has already been established that the Doctor makes it past his 13th regeneration (Trial of a Timelord I think it was) though it did result in an evil twin.

My theory is that so long as there is money in it the Doctor will continue to regenerate, it's Doctor Who after all, they make it up as they go along :p

I keep coming back into this thread expecting this discussion about regenerations to be finished :p

Can't wait to the next episode, you lot are making even a self professed geek feel a bit uncomfortable :p

That was a character called the Valeyard, a supposedly distilled evil side of the Doctor from between his twelfth and his final thirteenth persona.

@will13, From memory the Doctor has regenerated outside the Tardis at least a couple of times. 3rd on the floor of the UNIT lab after a spider bite. 4th Doctor fell off a Dish in Logopolis and the 8th got shot and was in Hospital for the Movie.

@Btone, The Timelords can 'bestow' a new cycle of regenerations, they offered that to the Master in The Five Doctors. Which would seem to mean that it's something that can be extended or topped up rather than an absolute fixed limit.

Ahh ok, never seen the old ones, so I was just going off what I've seen, might try and find the episode with the Valeyard in though, sounds interesting :)

tbh it's no different to people talking about who killed who in <insert crime drama here> or who's ****ing who in eastenders.

The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors and even The Two Doctors are all very good stories!..

But The Five Doctors is one of my all time favorite Doctor Who stories, along with Genesis of the Daleks...
