Screen protectors

Don't understand the point, unless screens have got less durable since my phone was released. Gets dropped, chucked in with keys, etc and never a scratch. The metal around the screen is chipped and scratched but the glass, not at all.

I think it's down to the quality, Most I've tried have been crap but the casemate one I got with the case was simple to put on, looks mint & has survived going down my bog.

Those are the ones I'm waiting on... :D

I know your really going to hate me for this but I have them and I really don't like it. It ruins the lovely screen and makes it look pixelated and adds a rainbow effect while also taking the vividness of the colours away. Yes its anti fingerprint but that is about it :(

Has a weird texture as well.

Hmm.... it would very useful if everyone could let us know where they purchase their screen protectors from, since its hard to find good ones.

Some people have mentioned that they scratched the glass on the Samsung Galaxy S2 with their keys. Either way, its understandable that people would want to buy a screen protector for a tenner to protect their £500 phone.

I am always puzzled by how many people drop their phones down the toilet.

What were you doing?

Are you sure you didn't order an anti-glare one with the matt texture on it? I had this exact same problem with Folix Anti-Glare.

Ive always used Invisible Shields. Never had any problems with application, dust or anything. Always get them on first time properly too.

Theyre not the cheapest, but it seems to be you get what you pay for.

Just got up went down to the loo in me dressing gown, Had moby in left hand & lifted lid with left hand, Moby did a back somersault came back towards me then down the loo.
Works perfect now though. :D

THere was a really good guide on XDA-Developers about applying screen protectors,

I think the pertinent points seemed to be

1. Using masking tape to hinge one end of the screen protector in place, so it aligns perfectly when it hinges down
2. Using a piece of sellotape to remove any dust that appears (Have to peel back the screen protector, use the sellotape to remove the dust, and re-apply the screen protector..

I like the use of masking tape as a hinge to properly locate the screen protector, I'm going to give it a go next time, I used the solder fume extractors in work to help reduce the dust around the phone when I did my last one, it was absolutely perfect, and that was a cheap 4 for £5 lot off ebay..

I got a pack of two off ebay for about £3, was a bit fiddly to fit but its been on there for 18 months now :) will fit the new one when i come to sell it :) (BB 9700)

Another vote for Zagg invisibleshield's, used them on phones, ipods and a xoom.
They are the only ones I've used that don't scratch/dull either.
After about a week, you wouldn't know you had one on.
You get what you pay for and the easiest to apply too.

I had one on my HD2 and found it crap tbh. Screen clarity was reduced and the texture made gliding my finger over the screen impossible.

If my Skinomi isn't the business, then I will get an SGP one.

And people are denying the lack of quality feel with this phone? I thought gorilla glass stopped all this. It certainly has on my phone, and makes me even more reluctant to upgrade to something else.

I've never used a screen protector, and I've never scratched a screen.

I hate them, even the best ones make the screen look considerably worse.

It takes about a week or two to bond properly and then the clarity is fine. It's the same with the texture too, when first applied your finger just bumps across the screen, but within a couple of days it's fine and you won't know it's there at all.

It's Gorilla Glass and supposedly resistant, but I'd rather not take the chance.

Saying that, I have the official Samsung flip case now, which makes a screen protector a bit redundant, but I'll still keep one on in case I manage to drop it on some stones or something whilst open. :p

I have gorilla glass and my phone has been dropped so many times on concrete, stones, etc etc and never even touched, the metal around the outside is chipped and the black paint on it has come off in a lot of places but the screen itself is perfect. Just seems a bit of a waste considering how horrible they feel to use!
