Paypal E-Cheque, am i getting scammed?

£3,750 by bank transfer?

Well, at least if you lose it, you'll deserve it.

well not really, I did do a few checks on the guy before I sent the money.

I checked he really owns the house which he does
I got the reg number of 2 of his cars
I checked and he does own a couple of companies, he seems to have owned a 4 million AUD home in the past the only issue I could find was that he had some sort of business deal go wrong with some arab royal family a few years ago.

Regardless of how silly sending a bank transfer may be, I don't think he deserves to lose £3750.
That's almost like saying the scammer deserves the £3750 because the buyer wasn't quite as cautious as he should have been.

And if he takes the money, then what? Are you going to ask ebay to force him to sell one of his cars, or get an equity release on his mortgage to pay you back?

christ, I would not have parted with that kind of money in that way.

Seriously! I would have smelt a rat when he was giving you all this justification that he was real!!!!!!

Seller: im legit innit heres my house, worth 1.3mil. Here's my drivin license and my car reg

He did not give my that much, I just asked for a copy of the drivers license and I did the rest of the checking my self.

I just spoke to the guy on the phone, he says he will drop the cash into my bank tomorrow and I can cancel the echeque. I dont know if it will really happen but lets wait and see.

None of this sounds too good. He does not have to drop the cash at your bank tommorrow...he just needs to bank transfer...couple of hours...DONE...hope you sort it tho.

I had some problems in the past after I'd bought something from someone on another forum and he didn't send it out to me.

In the end I went on this website, moneyclaim.gov.uk and sent him a notice via that. Soon after, he panicked, sent me an email saying he was very sorry etc and I got the item the next day! :)

Worst, I have been scammed thread ever.....
A fool and his money are soon parted.
etc etc

Thanks for your useful and helpful contribution:rolleyes:

let wait and see what happens tomorrow. Or I will name and shame the bloke in a couple of weeks if I do not have my money back. He is a professional who is not going to want his name all over the internet.

*probably

Sounds like you were as careful as you could be. I would still be a bit hesitant sending that amount of cash over though!
I probably would have done the same when assured that I though he was who he was. I would let him no in no uncertain terms, that if they money is not there by tomorrow, you will be going to the police to report it.

So update.

Today I received a full refund by CHAPS, he claims it was sent last Tuesday by bank BACS but I don't really care.

I feel a little bad because I sent him quite a harsh email and said I would report it to the police today only to find the money back in my account 3 hours later.
