dog shot 40 times then buried alive

:( why? There are some messed up people in this world.

Glad the dog made it, hopefully with all this publicity he'll find a good home.

am i the only one who finds it ironic the guy is being called subhuman et al. for torturing the poor dog yet people are suggesting the same?

I was waiting for someone to begin that argument. Which, incidentally, holds no water at all.

That dog in no way deserves what the perpetrator put it through.

For what they did, though, especially being a supposed human being to boot -- well, they sure as **** deserve it.

Some people here might remember or like to watch the Red Dwarf episode entitled 'Justice'. They board a prison ship I believe, and there is a 'Justice Zone', whereby every criminal act you commit is performed back to you. Is that a perfectly fair system of punishment?

I don't agree, as I think that makes you as bad, and worse than the perpetrator, but I certainly respect your right to hold that opinion. I think many will agree with you, and I do think that punishments are too lenient as they are now, just that's a step too far for me.

I'm not saying I would do it, just that I think they would deserve it (incase that wasn't clear).

I am not one for ranting about this stuff and get really wound up by all the animal lovers who do the whole 'whoever did it should be shot' etc etc rhetoric.

I am somewhat concerned that the people capable of doing this are disturbed enough to do something serious to another human.

The argument is valid, though you might disagree with it. Doubtless the people who did this are scum but 'an eye for an eye' would make for a terrible justice system.

In my opinion.

It's valid in that sense.

However, it is NOT valid in the sense that many throw it around -- ie. that those who condone violence on the perpetrator for infliciting violence on the animal are somehow guilty of an oxymoronic or hypocritical viewpoint.

They aren't.

I was nearly sick when i read this, completely and utterly disgusted.
I have been to Malta multiple times and never thought something like this could happen there as they are very kind and loving people, but just goes to show this happens all over the world.I disagree with the jail sentence, it should be increased to > ten years
Poor thing will probably be scared of humans for the rest of her life.

I'm surprised the dog wasn't dead already. No idea how you survive 40 pellets to the head. The people/person who did that should be ashamed, it's very wrong. I don't think we should advocate capital punishment to deal with it though, unlike most here. I love dogs too, and it was totally harmless, but killing someone for it? I'm not sure if that makes you worse than them or not!

I agree with you, I don't believe in killing anyone or anything no matter how evil or wicked they are I don't think anyone should have the power or right to say who lives or dies, however i reckon people who harm innocent animals, rapists pedo's and murderers should all be locked away for life.
