Each to their own I guess. I personally find the iPad to be an exercise in marketing and compromises. It has no ambition, it's designed to lock you into a controlled and restricted environment that exists to wring money out of their users/customers.
It's nice to use, it has a brilliant UI that is ultimately intuative but what it makes up in style and user friendlyness it loses in substance.
Stepping away from Apple has been a brilliant choice and not having to pander to the restrictions and bloat of iTunes was for me utterly liberating.
