Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

Vettel surely losing 1st to Alonso any moment

Vettel seems to have everything going for him this season. Had he been allowed to race for the remaining 6 laps, he would've been extremely vulnerable to Alonso. The accident and red flag, came to his rescue.

Law of averages suggests that this "luck" cannot continue.

It makes sense in a big shunt involving lots of cars, it means we can actually have a race. Rather than 15cars all coming in for extensive 10minute + repairs.
But in this scenario the ability to change tyres when otherwise you would need to pit is unbalanced. Sure it isn't categorically unfair as they are all driving to the same rules, but you can't argue that it hasn't ruined this race.

But you can't cover all scenarios. Red flags aren't very often, even then most ofthetime it's weather related.

It's the nature of the sport, is it a. Darn shame yes. But then at other races the rules will benefit the drivers you support and there won't be any moaning.

Rubbish end to what was shaping up to be an excellent finish (for once), so annoyed. Before the crash those few laps were some of the best I'd ever seen in f1

Before this year started I would've agreed with you, but since the new regs, F1 is pretty much non stop, with the lead of the race being contested right up until the final few laps.

These days, F1 promises non stop action, right up until the last lap of the race. Today's race is no different.

Not knowing who I support that is quite presumptuous, however I was more looking forward to a fascinating battle between the 3 best teams in a out-of-the-ordinary scenario. Whoever won I was looking forward to an exciting end.
