What do you think?

What do you think of this. It's near bang on budget. I've included a better PSU with a 5 year warranty that is Xfire capable. The mobo can also offer Xfire.

Not to mention you have the 2500K. The Caviar black is really over rated, the F3 can keep up with it for a much lower price, the RAM you chose was also OTT and you wouldn't see any difference in real world performance, your games for e.g.

P.S. You also qualify for free shipping. So knock that off.

Please don't be offended. However, the case you specced isn't upto much. I've used it on two seperate occasions to build in. It offers absolutely zero cable management, it's also very light and flimsy. Perfect for a girlfriends £300 AMD build, not for this.

I also mentioned the WD Black is also overpriced for what it is. The samsung F3 will keep up with it all day long and is a lot cheaper.

I almost forgot... the CPU you specced cannot be overclocked, so that sort of defeats the whole purpose of the cooler and the P67 board.

Thanks very much for the feedback I've learnt quite abit already. Gonna re-think my build and go for the i5 Sandybridge. If I get the cheaper Ram and Hardrive as suggested I might even have enough for a 60gb SSD on top of it all too. Cheers

They are a lot more expensive than the amd cpus... if you could spec me a system in this price range with a sandy bridge I'm more than open to it!

And yet you are speccing a Caviar black, and a crosshair mobo :p You can do without a Black tbh, that leaves you room for the rest. The Cheap Sandybridge motherboards are actual very decent in their own rights, compared to say, AMD mobos that vary quite a lot.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 Game £205.99
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor £173.99
1 x MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £139.99
1 x G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM) £89.99
1 x XFX Pro 750W Core Edition Power Supply £72.98
1 x Cooler Master CM-690 II Lite Dominator Case - Black £59.99
1 x Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) £43.99
1 x Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £25.99
Total : £827.92 (includes shipping : £12.50).

£0.02 more expensive :)

Twin Froz III with 2GB memory and custom cooler which I prefer. XFire 6950 ready. Pop another one in there later. Not a fan of unlocking 6950's tbh.

You can get a better cooler, but this one is pretty good and quiet. A50 performs better but is louder.

Good PSU with 4 x pci-e power connectors, and enough juice for 6950 XFire.

XFire ready motherboard, and quite good at overclocking.

decent case, fast HD, low latency, low voltage 8GB ram, although if you stick a set a corsair XMS in there, you wont see the difference really. I missed the optical drive.

Slightly OT, but if someone says they aren't ever going to OC, is it still worth buying the K edition?

If you can budget it, then yes. I'd try to save £20-£30 on the build so I can get a 2500K + P67. for £800, you got to have the K :)

For cheap home builds, then fair enough, for gaming and enthusiast rigs, you'd be missing out.

Non-K edition CPU:eek:;)

Sounds like a plan. If you don't plan on going Xfire, you could drop the PSU down a notch or two to free up some cash.
