EURO 2012 Qualifiers 3/4/7 June *** Spoilers ***

Lampard has been carried for years, carried at international level and carried at club level.
I agree, he has not really done anything for England. We need some proper talent in the whole England team, not just bit part PL players. You look back at our last 2 successful campaigns where we truly could have won, 1990 and 1996. We had far more talent then, and more respect (and less money). Can we get a team like that again? I don't think so at the moment.

Nice to see Glen Johnson still stealing a living as a footballer. Milner should have been in the middle instead of Parker and Parker should have been nowhere near the pitch.
Milner shouldn't even be in the squad let alone the centre of the pitch. Far better players than him to pick from.

And replace with who exactly?

Youngsters, there are so many decent young English players who are not going to progress if they don't get the chance. Shawcross, Phil Jones, Smalling, Henderson, Rodwell, Sturridge etc etc

I think it's just that the team needs to look at a different playing style - I am always surprised by how few teams try Cryuff's 'total football' methods, that Spain, Barcelona and Arsenal tend to do. England always play incredibly scrappy and in awkward, rigid positions.

Well the most ridiculous thing is Young not starting, its pretty simple, anyone without blinkers on could see Young has basically been man of the match in every one of his recent run of games, almost every goal was scored or assisted by him.

Unless your name's Wenger you generally shouldn't drop your currently inform best player.

Likewise at the stupid reactions, one bad tackle in particular from Parker and one not great game out of the last 4-5 he's been excellent and suddenly he shouldn't be near the team.

Walcott has been rubbish for the past 5 games, Lampard/Parker have had one not great game, wholesale change, or one player simply not deserving to be there.

Lampards game is mostly about playing people in behind but with Bent ahead of him marked heavily, with Theo making smeg all runs except in very specific situations and Milner being generally completely content to run into a corner and win a throw in rather than play football Lampard didn't have the movement you need infront of him.

Fabregas looks rubbish when we play one striker infront and he has a bad game, except he's not rubbish, generally no player can look great on their own. Lampards game has always thrived off the kind of movement Young brought in the second half, an extra running dragging defenders all over the place, it creates the angles to pass into or to run into for a Lampard type player.

Simple fact is, the closest player in the Spanish team to Walcott is for me Navas, in his couple sub appearances in the world cup he was just shocking, pace, running but final ball, decision making was appauling, guess what he dissappeared from the team or as good as, they don't start the guy.

Walcott will be epically rubbish for 89 minutes of a game in 9/10 games, in that 10th game he'll get a hattrick against someone rubbish.

You win titles and games by playing people who are decent for 80 minutes in 8 out of 10 games.

We have this over reaction every time about how we have no one to match the quality of the best teams, we really do, we just refuse to acknowledge it.

Young, is that maybe scored or assisted 6 of Englands last 8 goals, yet pool and Utd fans are saying they don't really want him........ if Rooney did that, or Theo, whoever, the reaction would be totally different, I'm just honestly not sure why?

The players have never been the issue, or the players available to England, the quality has always been there.

ITs tactics, formation and starting line up/squad thats let us down, and thats 99% down to the wrong manager choice every single time. We fire one guy and bring in the most similar manager available who makes all the same decisions.

We need an INTERNATIONAL MANAGER, not a successful club manager, bring in a proven world cup/euro manager rather than anyone but that, and have them pick the team rather than the FA and the readers of the sun.

Redknapp would be 10x worse. Youngsters wouldn't get a look in.

I like his style of play. Its attractive football. Who knows how he would actually do if he got the job.

I would like to see someone born in England managing England. Why is there not a rule for this? Seems so backwards.

Have you watched Spurs? Their go-to plan is, in the words of Ray Wilkins, 'the big diagonal ball to Crouchy'; in the words of everyone else, long ball football. They're shocking at times.

As I've said for ages, wrong players, wrong formation and wrong manager.

'Arry (imho) wants the England job, but he's done really nothing to prove he deserves it.

The manager's irrelevant for these guys. The guys themselves just aren't good enough. Simples.

Depends. Some players are good enough and some aren't, you can't brush them all with that. The system currently used doesn't work, the players don't work and the manager is (imho) the wrong man for the job.

I do like how Capello's idea of bringing in youth is to chuck in Wilshire / Walcott and occasionally play Young :p
