That episode blew my mind. So many thoughts and ideas about it. It also explains why she was a bit awkward/in awe with Rory when she met him at the start of the episode as that would be her dad technically.

One thing I thought they missed out on though was if the doctor was building an army of supporters, where was Captain Jack? An invincible man would probably be quite useful in an army, no?

Why would he use up all his debts when he only needed as many as he had?

When I saw them bring back all those other characters I thought they may be a chance they also bring back one other character - bring back the MASTER!

Both Captain Jack and River have used Vortex manipulators, so has the Doctor (in Utopia at the end of the 3rd Series of new Who). They aren't really a good tardis alternative, even short term.

@Shamikebab She meets them in a different order, so this was the first time he met her where she knew that. Maybe she dosnt find out about her parents until later in her adult life if she is brought up as a weapon. They also allude to this in the episode when Rory mentions he dosnt know what time frame he is meeting her in and how much she knows.

@Valention True, he had enough, but surely he wouldnt want to risk it. An invincible man would be the ace card incase something goes wrong (which it of course did). Not that in the current storyline, Jack could have done much to help, but I'm just sayin

I thought she was Professor River Song, rather than Doctor? I think the actual answer for the cot name, is the good old fashioned much used, "wibbly wobbly timey wimey", it explains everything

She has been Doctor River Song in some episodes and Professor in others. In one of the episodes this series I remember her saying "oh I'm going to be a professor one day, spoilers!" or something along those lines

And yes, I'm sure there will be a crazy explanation for the cot. It is definitely not just the Doctors though.

I'm not expecting there to be any explanation for the cot, I think its just one of those things which will get brushed aside with the wibbly wobbly timey wimey phrase if asked. I dont think it will be elaborated upon further.

I thought the cot had belonged to one of the doctor's children. Since he avoids answering the question regarding offspring I assume he has at one point had children - I think the first of the old series even had him travelling with his "grandaughter"?

Oh I think they will. They went to that extra effort with Amy asking about whether ha has ever had children and him not properly answering. We shall see anyway.

He has mentioned he had a family once in the newer series once too but wouldnt go into it. I think there is a whole other story there.

Asked my sister what her opinions were and she said there was only one thing that bothered her. I expected it to be any of the above issues raised but instead:

"her name would be Song River not River Song"

There was the short clip about the soldiers training to see past the physic paper which I assume works the same way as the perception filter. Plus in old episodes there was been mention how trained people can see past the illusion. Then there was the angels episode bit where both River and the Doctor after a while sew past the perception filter and realised the statues didn't have the correct amount of heads.

In short a perception filter is far from full prove.

Just got around to watching the latest episode, loved it

You know what I am most looking forward to? Which BABE Moffat casts when river regenerates. If you think about it, we have only ever known River in her last regeneration cycle before she dies. It has always bothered me the current lass is a bit older than smith so the chemistry is lacking. Kill her off backwards, sorted

any votes?

That's easilly explained, by the differences in languages, after all, we say "The green door" and not "the door green", which is the literal translation of things like "la porta verde".
