My trusty old car no longer had a place on this earth, so for the first time in years I had to buy a new one.

I ended up buying a Corsa 1.3cdti sxi. 06 plate and only 35k miles on the clock. I wanted a good little runabout. The mileage is genuine as I have previous MOTs on it and did the car check thing to find out about its history etc. Everything came back OK.

However, 2 weeks into driving the car, the drive shaft went.

After speaking to a couple of people, they said the car might of been thrashed if the drive shaft goes after only 35K miles ?

The question is, when a drive shaft goes, is this just one of those things or have I just got a car that is hanging on by its threads

Aren't Corsas always hanging by their threads? :D

How much did you pay for it? That would indicate if it was too god to be true I suppose. Service History, MOTs etc.

the actual driveshaft has broken?

my brother did that on a clio, actually snapped the shafted, he absolutely killed that car to death

Is it a corsa c or d?

I would say as its an ex fleet car that it would have been ragged to within an inch of its life.

Paid 4500. Full service history etc

Ex Mitie car.

Mitie won't get rid of cars at 35k unless they have an age related policy, it may have been accident damaged and repaired and sold which may explain the driveshaft if it popped out say they had to rebuild a corner that got twisted.

Not trying to scare you it probably has been repaired to a very high standard, did it have a warranty?

Define "the drive shaft went"???
I find it more likely that the cv boot has been loose for ages and the cv joint has lost all its grease and is now cracking and needs replacing. Thats really common on all corsa's.

Corsa C type. Yes i have a warranty and it is now repaired free of charge. I am just wondering whether it is worth keeping now or best to get rid asap if it has been through hell.

 an 06 c? don't see many of those about! surely you'd lose more money changing now?

Dont go jumping into some mad panic sale just because you had to change a drive shaft, its a car and they go wrong sometimes, dont be driving your self mad mate.
