Total recall of Sanforce 2xxx-drives

Went with the 128GB M4 few weeks back...can't fault it at all and has been running trouble free from the start. But did get some buyers remorse with the advertised speeds of the new corsair, OCZ units but I just couldn't commit with all the issues being raised in various forums.

Glad I went with my gut instinct of going for reliability over speed.

i was tempted by the speeds, too. but dont worry they are for sequential read/write, actual random 4k qd1 performance (what windows use the most) the m4/c300 beat them in most cases.

bottom line - so i was told on another forum :) u wont see MUCH difference in real-world between them, which is why i also opted for reliability and ordered a m4 128gb!

crucial RMA in the uk is a bonus!

I can't speak for other manufacturers and it's not a "recall" per se. We are simply replacing the drives with drives that have the fixes implemented.

Which is great and good on you, but OCZ won't do the same since they have shipped a lot more and it will likely cost them lots of money to do.

This is why I like to buy corsair products, much better support than the rest. I want a force 3 gt, but I know I will break and just get a force 3 when the new ones are stocked again :)

My Agility 3 came last week with 2.06 firmware installed. I have been running it for a week and I haven't got a BSOD at all.

Thanks for information Yellowbeard, good to see it being handled so well with a speedy replacement. /thumbs up to Corsair.

Did your problems start with 007 on the C300?. I get the same thing with my C300, but it only happened once I flashed 007 on to the drive.

No was fine on 006 with the LPM reg fix then 007 ruined it on windows reinstall but try 'turn off windows write-cache buffer flushing' I having seen a freeze for a few hours now.. i'm hopeful

Official statement from OCZ.....

OCZ is aware of firmware issues that have been reported in the field that are potentially causing bluescreens on all SF2000 based drives, this issue affects a very small percentage of Vertex 3 and Agility 3 SSDs, and currently less than 1% of all our customers are affected. This hard to replicate issue is a completely different issue than what some other drive manufacturers are experiencing, which may have similar symptoms but is caused by a hardware issue. Unlike other brands OCZ does not use a reference design, and we design and manufacture our SSDs in-house, and are NOT affected by the hardware problems which are unique to other drive vendors.

OCZ is working diligently with our customers and SandForce to quickly resolve the outstanding firmware issues and we will be releasing a firmware update that addresses the bluescreen issue as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime we encourage any customers that are experiencing any bluescreen issues to contact our customer service team for immediate support.

Brilliant, thats put my mind at rest! I've had no issues with my Vertex 3 but I believe it's on the older firmware too.

Hmmm.. Put an OCZ solid 3 into my laptop a few weeks back, fresh install (w7) and up to date everything installed.. Since then I have been getting random bluescreens once every 3-4 days.. This laptop has never bluescreened before. This weekend I was going to spend checking error logs/drivers etc to see if I can ID the cause.. I wonder if the SSD could be the cause.
